Dominica News Online (DNO) was reliably informed that three persons are in custody following an aggravated burglary in St Clements House in Belfast on Sunday night.
According to previous reports, the thieves got away with about EC$2,500, US$600 and a Mitsubishi Pickup Registration number PP634 that was retrieved the following morning in an area known as Zabrico.
One of the victims involved in the incident revealed that a total of four men entered the house, then tied him up along with another male occupant who was visiting from overseas.
The St Clements House in Belfast is the residence of the Catholic missionary order, the Redemptorists, who have been working in Dominica since 1902. Presently, there are approximately 4,500–5,500 members of the Redemptorist order operating in over 80 countries around the world.
Police continue to investigate the matter.
What a sad state of affairs that now robbers are attacking Catholic priests in their presbytery. I guess Sunday collection must be a temptation. It would be worth something if Catholics were tithing and putting 10% of their wages, but with the $1 and #5, that’s really slim pickings. The robbers would be better off going up to the heights and planting some ground provision or vegetables to sell at the market. And if you’re looking to commit crime, go be a gigolo on the bayfront and show your stuff to some old retired hoppity drop tourists on the cruise ship. Shame on these criminals.May they be punished to the full extent of the law in addition to 10 Our Fathers and 100 Hail Mary’s every day for the next 20 years.
I am a Catholic myself but I don’t just buy a story until I hear all sides, if they are all truthful. We talking about 2 men in a Catholic missionary house and one was visiting? I not too naive or spiritual to not think with an open heart. I know I heard the voice of one man that was probably tied but I don’t know if he was a priest or two priest since the report referred to them as men. really look forward to this case to see if it the men really stole money or something else. I know the persons voice I heard didnt sound like he was in distress.
All in all this reminds of a story in Genesis 19 , when some funny men surrounded Lots house to go after two angels in the form of men, during the time of Sodom and Gomorrah. I wasn’t there but that’s what the story reminds me of. One thing I know is donkey don’t participate in horse race lol
Umm, pray tell, where and on what occasion did you hear “the voice of one man that was probably tied?”
They choose the wrong place rob worthy unto them. When I saw where they Robbed I know that they would be caught.
According to my granny; Despuis cest Peear katolick nou commencay attackay, chu nou fan!
So how about the English translation? Not all of us can read and write creole even if we speak it.
My dearest E-E below is translation;

“Once we start attacking the Catholic Priests, our bottom burst (we are in Big Trouble)
Just to add, in Dca we believe that one never wants to attack or do wrong to the catholic priests because of their godly powers (or so we in Dca believe).
Hope this helps
