A businesswoman from Mahaut,, Joyce Orine George, has been identified as the latest victim involved in a fatal lone vehicular crash in the British Virgin Island (BVI).
According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), the 57-year-old who resided in Romney Park died after succumbing to injuries she sustained during a traffic accident in Cane Garden Bay on August 28, 2022.
“Last evening just before 8 pm, police responded to the scene of a collision close to the bottom of the Cane Garden Bay Hill. A vehicle was found with extension front-end damage against a retaining wall. The driver was found unresponsive. The cause of the collision is still being investigated,” the RVIPF stated.
George, who owned L & O Guest house and Restaurant in Mahaut, was at the time of her passing employed as a cook at Quito’s Gazebo in the BVI.
In a Facebook post, her employers mourned her death. “She was a wonderful and beautiful lady. She will be sadly missed by us all. Our heart breaks for her family and from all our family, we send our condolences. We were all blessed to have shared time with her and for all, she shared with us. She was a ray of sunshine every day. May she rest in everlasting peace.”
Attempts made by Dominica News Online (DNO) to speak to family and staff members of George’s establishment were unsuccessful.
OR, we’ll miss you. What a loss. The pain of no longer hearing your voice and seeing you. You were a real lifelong friend. You will surely be missed. May you rest in eternal peace among the angels and with Lofty. To your children and and brothers, my deepest condolences. The emptiness and void is deep. 😭 😢
Wow! Sadly, no one knows the time or the hour we will depart this world. Such a nice person.
Fly away with the Angels Miss Joyce. Gone way too soon but as Gramps Morgan says, there is a place in heaven for someone like you. RIEP with the ancestors.
Oh my goodness, what a shock for me. She was a very dear friend. So loving and so kind. So full of life and very motivated. My heart goes out to you my love. May God and his Angeles carry you home. Blessed love.
Sleep in peace gentle soul. I had no idea the last time I saw you would be the last time that we would see each other.
Am still in shock of your death ….we were together having fun on the beach 🏖 didn’t know that it would be my last breakfast with you on Sunday morning…..my memories of you will last forever…safe travels my dear
Business woman? I thought you said she was a cook. No difference really, in DA everybody is a business person and entrepreneur when Skerrit makes available loans via the AID bank to entrepreneurs. I feel sooo sad for my country!

Why can she not be a businesswoman? She has her own business in Dominica –
“George, who owned L & O Guest house and Restaurant in Mahaut, was at the time of her passing employed as a cook at Quito’s Gazebo in the BVI.
Also DAfriend. Can she not work for whosoever she wants or elsewhere? Your comment is out of context.
So because you have a business, then you cannot work as a cook for someone else?
Pathetic indeed the comments some persons make without even reading back or even thinking.
She owned L&O in Guesthouse and Restaurant/Bar in Mahaut. Apparently she was also working as a cook in BVI…probably so that her business wouldn’t have to pay her…!
To early to leave us, you were a kind and loving human being.
OR as she was called, was a very loving person.I didn’t even know she was 57,looked very much younger with a captivating smile. One of my best friends.Condolences to the family, especially Magdalene(Maggie).I am grieving.May her soul rest in PEACE.
