The Government of Dominica will host a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and visiting Dominicans on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the State House Conference Center from 10:00 a.m.
The Diaspora Dialogue will afford Dominicans who are home to celebrate Dominica’s 44th anniversary of independence, the opportunity to engage with Government officials on matters of development.
“We have put together a very compact and relevant programme with the aim of ensuring a meaningful and productive dialogue between our diasporan family and the cabinet of ministers, where factual information can be requested and received,” says Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business and Diaspora Relations, Dr. Kenneth Darroux.
Minister for Health, Wellness and New Health Investment, Dr. Irving McIntyre, Minister for National Security and Home Affairs, Hon. Rayburn Blackmoore and Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit will make presentations at tomorrow’s meeting. A special
presentation on the ongoing international airport project will form part of the activity.
“An Efficient Service, A Sustainable Future” Invitees can also expect cultural performances from the Paix Bouche, Petite Savanne
and Karifuna Cultural Groups, Belte Dominik and local entertainer Benji, among others.
Following the meeting, members of Cabinet and all Dominicans present will converge on the Botanic Gardens for Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl – ‘Tout biten Domnik,’ which is being held until Thursday, October 27.
The Diaspora Dialogue will be streamed live via the Government Information Service, the Government of Dominica YouTube channel, Government social media platforms and DBS Radio.
As a member of the diaspora… what a terrible word by the way, I haven’t heard from any one. Might I also say when you say you’re going to speak to a group of people are you referring to a group of supporters or a group of Dominicans of all walks. Lest we not forget that Dominica is well behind its neighbors and that’s partly due to the underpopulation caused by those of us who have left..
I also know alot of Dominicans shun those of us who have left not realizing the millions of dollars sent back to dominica through remittance. We are still Dominicans. We miss our home. We suffer great loss and dread silently as we long to return but we must still survive. I’d rather be home right now than anywhere else in the world but must have a means to make ends meet. How these politicians and citizens alike not make that priority number 1.
WOW, sounds like early electioneering to prepare the diasporans for their election time trips back home. Get the list ready of all who will want the free ride, their names, numbers, and residences. Labour ka twavay, bonne. What a sham! and a shame. I think there is a saying, “dazzle them with brilliance, or bamboozle them with bullsh…, methinks Sherlock this is some of the latter. Poor Dominica, we feel for you.
On the 6th of November it was confirmed that you are absolutely right on with your comment. Skerrit is sooo predictable. I’ve never come across people more shallow than him, Gucci and Austrie.
The election observers told the WORLD,the 2019 election held in Dominica was free and fair and reflected WILL of the PEOPLE.The election was conducted according to the laws of Dominica.Any electoral reform which does not give EVERY Dominican the right to vote whether in or out of Dominica, whether out for 10,15 or 20 years, will be met with massive demonstrations. There will be another May 1979.
There are thousands of Dominicans who have returned for independence.Skeritt is not only going to tell them what is happening,he is going to show them what is happening(direct evidence)starting with the State house. He is going to tell them the hundreds of millions of dollars made by UWP under the Reengineered Citizenship Programme disappeared. He is going to show them the hundreds of $250,000,$300,000 and $400,000 houses and apartments given to Dominicans FREE,from the CBI programme. They will see the new Roseau hospital, the stadium, the E O Leblanc highway and the new Grammar school. They will know about night landing, and the extention of the D C Airport. It will be pointed out to them that more than 1,000 people are employed at Clear Harbour,3,400 in the NEP and about 300 in the Yes We Care. They will see more people employed in the nursing, police, teaching and fire service. The liars, crooks and traitors, the spreaders of fake news propaganda and misinformation will be exposed.
is like Dominicans living in Dominica are worthless……..you wouldn’t have a meeting like dat with people on island?
de ting is……you won’t answer most of the questions and insult de questioner
well I seriously want to insult you to skerritt
You are. Uncle needs all you at elections only! He could care less about all you. How foolish all you are.
I just hope that the participants listening to the double doctorate dude and the followers will not be swept away by the excitement of the moment and show their savvy by asking pertinent questions to obtain a holistic understanding of the true and real status of things that the citizens in the country are facing. I’m sure the pied Piper will not be telling them what the national debt is. He’ll want to brag about the pie in the sky airport which has been coming for the past 12 or more years and which most citizens don’t know nor understand the arrangements for, since they have changed from what was first mentioned. I also hope he tells them that electoral reform is going to be put in place before the next election since he has the Dennis report and there will be no more treating and bribery. They should ask when will the occupants of the houses be given title for them. I just hope they don’t get giddy being in the presence of the pied Piper and press for answers.
Neither will they be swept away by your foolishness and jealousy. Get a life, Jonathan and do something constructive for your country. You are just one of the negative ones who has nothing to contribute to the development of his country. Mash Rex. Long Live Skerrit. Lennox is gone, no more Lennox.
ds, your thoughts always coincide with mine. I was thinking the same thing as I read that post of this Jonathan person, that he is speaking nothing but foolishness!
“I hope, I hope, I hope”! All of his hoping is based on his own negative blah, blah, blah, against the Prime Minister, which he cannot plug in the minds of the Diaspora, who is definitely in Dominica to enjoy good times.
What makes him think that they will not see for themselves, especially if they they had been gone for a long time, what is rightfully going on in Dominica, pertaining to development, and not dwell on his thoughts of negativity, jealousy, and fictional discontentment?
Jonathan Y St Jean, your “pied Piper” foolishness is of your own carnal mind, you need to keep it there.
Thank you, Liz. These guys are very sick and sickening. Somehow, I do believe that they still have the Covid and need to visit Dr. Fauci or better yet, Dr. Lester McIntyre in Florida.
@ds, you sound like what I said has you very angry. My advice to you is don’t get high blood pressure. Instead open your eyes and believe what you are seeing that the country is fast getting to a failed state status. Your anger will not stop me from saying what I believe to be true about the sad state of affairs in Dominca. Skerritt is now pleading for less barrels of food to be sent to the country. Why is there a need for the barrels in the first place? because of the failed policies of the cabal. You referring to me as a dog, Rex, but do you realize the loyalty of dogs? I’m loyal to my country and the citizens who reside there, therefore as far as I’m concerned you haven’t said anything bad by equating me to a loyal Dominican. Your rage won’t even let you see that I’m not deterred. The message is for good governance and the messanger isn’t worried about what you have to say. UWP is an organization and it’s bigger than any one person. I’m not a blind follower of anyone.
So Skerrit and his cabinet has never engaged Dominicans that living in Dominica, seeing all the lies and hypocrites, going through the everyday gwayay, suffering and pain inflicted on us by Skerrit and his bunch of clapping ministers but they meeting with Diasporas that only come to sewo and vote while they enjoy life in greener pastures. Boy not only is Skerrit not having any dialogue with nationals that going through hell in Dominica but the man is not even inviting the press to meetings so he could present those plans to them and they could ask questions. Has he ever discussed international airport with those of us residing in Dominica? All he does is go on Karie with his Makoshat so called laborites media practitioners and make statements. Again let me make it clear that under Skerrit we will never have a functioning international airport! Yes millions of dirty laundry will be washed at the international airport laundromat just as we saw in the coffee plant, Moroccan hotel
I fully endorse your comments. They are the inconvenient truth.
Roosevelt has a propensity to meet with people living outside Dominica to deceive them into thinking that life in Dominica is a bed of roses. He is disinclined to face and take questions from those who live in Dominica and live the daily horrors of his authoritarian rule.
The docile, cheer leading, local media, the four main usual suspects, contribute to the erosion of democracy by acting as very reliable conduits for the DLP’s propaganda.
The media MUST take much of the responsibility for the depressing state of affairs in the country. They have directly and indirectly aided and abetted Roosevelt and Melissa in the severe restriction of democratic practices.
Knowing you, you endorse everything your acolytes say. Don’t forget to endorse your checks, cheques as well before you hit the bank.
