Canada to provide biometric processing for visa applicants in Dominica

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados — The Government of Canada is pleased to announce that Canadian officials will be in the Commonwealth of Dominica from Monday, September 25 to Tuesday, September 26, 2023, to carry out biometric processing for persons wishing to obtain visas.

As part of the visa application process, nationals from the Commonwealth of Dominica must provide biometric information (fingerprints and a photo) when applying for a Canadian visitor visa, study, work, or temporary residence permit, or for permanent residence. During the upcoming September dates, visa applicants may take the opportunity to provide biometric information in the Commonwealth of Dominica rather than travelling abroad. Outside of this visit, standard procedures remain for Commonwealth of Dominica nationals to travel to biometrics collection points in Barbados, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, or Trinidad and Tobago.

If you are planning to travel to Canada for study, business, tourism, family reunions or other reasons, please complete your online visa application as soon as possible in order to take advantage of this opportunity in September. This exercise is geared towards the following individuals:

1. Commonwealth of Dominica nationals who anticipate travel to Canada;

2. Persons who have already applied whether online or by mail for a visa, work or study permit or for permanent residence and have received their Biometric Instruction Letter; and,

3. Nationals of other biometric information-required countries residing in the Commonwealth of Dominica planning to travel to Canada.

To book an appointment for biometrics collection, please write to: BDGTN- [email protected]

Please note the cut-off date for scheduling an appointment is Tuesday, September 19, 2023, and there are a limited number of appointments available for the two-day collection visit. Appointments will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. We will not be able to accommodate appointment requests after that date unless cancellations are received.

Canadian officials will be pleased to assist applicants who have appointments and the required Biometrics Instruction Letter and passport in hand during the hours listed below. Officials will not be collecting applications or biometric information from applicants who have not received this letter.

The biometrics collection will take place from 10:30 to 16:00 on Monday, September 25, and 08:30 to 16:00 on

Tuesday, September 26 at the Fort Young Hotel, Victoria Street, Roseau.

@david, are you aware that like Dominica, St. Kitts and other countries in the region there are European countries which are part of the EU that sell citizenship? I guess for people like you they can do it because they are white and right and they know they are dealing with people like you who are modern day slaves. Just check the programs in Malta, Portugal, Cyprus, Italy and others you will see that they all use their citizenship to raise investment capital.

I’ve no doubt that what you are saying is correct, but the fact remains that the UK Govt don’t trust the current Dominican Govt, here is a recent quote from Braverman the UK Home Secretary:
In her remarks, Braverman commented: “Careful consideration of Dominica’s and Vanuatu’s operation of a citizenship by investment scheme has shown clear and evident abuse of the scheme, including the granting of citizenship to individuals known to pose a risk to the UK”.
“The decision to impose these visa requirements has been taken solely for migration and border security reasons and is not a sign of poor relations with these countries. Any decision to change a visa regime is not taken lightly and we keep our border and immigration system under regular review to ensure it continues to work in the UK national interest”.

That tells me that they believe that the Dominican Govt can’t be trusted, and unfortunately ordinary Dominican people will be the ones to suffer the consequences

And why should we care about the concerns of the UK? Whatever decisions they take are always in their own best interest. When they removed the preferential treatment on bananas were they acting in Dominica best interest and was it done because they did not trust the government? Wake up from your political slumber.

Incorrect. They offer residence by investment without restrictions but you must have residency in that EU country for a few years before you can naturalize. The EU already cracked down in their member states from directly selling citizenship. Nothing they can do about residence tho

Canadians have free entry into Dominica. What threat does Dominica pose to Canada that we have to be treated like criminals?

The point is that the illicit actors, fraudsters, international crooks and terrorists who purchased our passports are a real and present danger to not only the UK but to the EU and the US. Stop engaging in wilful ignorance.

@ibo France, people like you lacks what it takes to stand up and defend Dominica when needed you always put your politics first. Citizens of France, UK and the USA have free and unlimited access to Canada, while in these countries terrorism is rampant. The number of children killed and wounded in terrorist attacks in the US is off the charts let us not forget the terrorist bombings in UK and France, these were all home grown terrorist. This does not bother you to see Dominica and other small island states been singled out for unfair treatment, but then again that is your MO. Soon you will be saying that Skeritt is responsible for the Ukraine war. Stop hating Dominica and look at issues objectively.

Dominica citizens don’t have free access to the US. The EU and the UK have been encouraging criminals from Russia to settle and buy property in their countries, as a result of the Ukraine war they are now seizing and selling these properties, I guess Skeritt and Dominica is to blame. Theives and plunderers infest Europe UK and the US, their wealth is as a result of the exploitation of the resources of Africa. The fraudsters and illicit actors are only good when they commit Fraud and illicit acts to promote the interest of the EU, UK and the US. You continue e to be a complete @hole ….

I think it’s because the Dominican government will sell passports to anyone prepared to pay and that includes criminals. So the Canadian govermnent (and I think the British as well) now insist on visa applications because they don’t want to allow free entry to people carrying Dominican passports who may be criminals or on some other country’s wanted list. Unfortunately ordinary honest people have to pay a price for this shady practise….

The visa requirement is not targeted at nature born bona fide Dominican citizens. It is aimed at the people who carry our passport and would not be able to place Dominica on a globe.

I hope none of the supporters and students their parents support labor will not go for any biometric for visa. Laborites are deceitful just like their leader. Their leader and the enablers dishonesty telling their supporters so many bad things about biometric but they will do the same biometric to run from Dominica. As for those wicked Diasporas they live their entire lives outside of Dominica but want to implement a government on the residence Dominicans. You all are very Ungodly

Question. Do those US and French citizens that are taking the bribes of Skerrit to come and vote in Dominica need a visa to go Canada or the UK? If the answer is no then it’s another reason why you all should not come to vote a government on the people because you don’t experience what they experience under this monster called Roosevelt Skerrit, who forced visa restrictions on the people and forces everything bad on the people
