On June 23, 2025, Her Excellency Brenda Wills officially presented her Letter of Credence to Dr. Didacus Jules, Director General of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), during a virtual accreditation ceremony.

This formal event was attended remotely by heads of embassies and missions accredited to the OECS, along with other distinguished guests.

Her Excellency Ambassador Brenda Willis

An OECS press release states that in her address, Ambassador Wills underscored Canada’s longstanding commitment to the OECS and outlined key areas of partnership, including international development assistance, trade, tourism, and educational exchanges. She expressed Canada’s interest in expanding cooperation with OECS member states through increased initiatives in infrastructure, agriculture, and food security, as well as renewable energy projects.

“Canada remains committed to working with the OECS to achieve these goals”, Ambassador Wills stated.

“Our long-term objective in the Caribbean is to help create a more inclusive, prosperous, and resilient community that offers opportunities for all its citizens. I look forward to working with you and your team to enhance our evolving relationship. I am confident that Canada and the OECS will continue to collaborate to build a more inclusive, prosperous, and secure atmosphere,” she added.

The Director General welcomed Ambassador Wills and expressed gratitude for Canada’s ongoing support and partnership with the OECS, particularly in areas aligned with the region’s development priorities.

He remarked, “This occasion provides an excellent opportunity to reflect on our shared accomplishments to date and to look ahead to the possibilities for even greater collaboration in the future. I am particularly pleased with the warm and productive relations between the High Commission of Canada and the OECS Commission, which reflect the depth and strength of our relationship.”

Following the formal presentation, the OECS reports that the event included a courtesy meeting where representatives from the High Commission and the OECS Commission discussed current initiatives and explored future avenues for cooperation.
