Caribbean region leaves its mark at Latin American tourism fair

According to the Caribbean Marketing  Organization, the Caribbean region made a notable impression at the 2024 International Tourism Fair (FIT) held in Argentina, showcasing its offerings to a record number of attendees. The event took place from September 28 to October 1, 2024, at the La Rural Convention Center and drew more than 135,000 visitors, marking an eight percent increase from the previous year.

EM Marketing, a partner of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), played a crucial role in organizing the Caribbean’s involvement in this expanding travel exhibition in Latin America.

“This year’s success at FIT demonstrates the Caribbean’s increasing appeal in Latin America. The growing interest from both travelers and industry professionals confirms the region’s unique value proposition. This event allowed us to showcase the Caribbean’s cultural richness and scenic beauty as well as establish new partnerships and strengthen confidence in the region as a leading destination for international tourism,” stated Elsa Petersen, Founder and CEO of EM Marketing.

Significant accomplishments at FIT 2024 included the scheduling of 6,114 business appointments, reflecting a 39% rise compared to 2023. Additionally, the FIT B2B system facilitated 7,445 meetings, and EM Marketing coordinated over 30 meetings with travel operators from various countries, including Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.

FIT annual influx of over 34 million travelers from Latin America, making it the leading tourism exhibition in the region and organizers expect to achieve even greater success in future editions. The CTO and its allied partners regard this prominent industry event as essential for enhancing the Caribbean’s visibility and brand recognition within the Latin American market.
