The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat is hosting a 2025 Hurricane Preparedness Webinar Series this month, with the goal of enhancing the agriculture sector’s readiness in the Region ahead of hurricane season. The Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM) shared via press release that, along with several other regional and international bodies, it will be presenting. These one-hour webinars will be held every Friday from May 9 to June 6, 2025, and broadcast on all of the Secretariat’s online platforms.
The CRFM is scheduled to present at this Friday’s webinar, which is dedicated to Disaster Preparedness for On-Farm and Sea Assets. The organization said that the session will prominently feature presentations on methods to protect farm equipment, boats, and critical infrastructure, as well as measures to secure input supplies and essential resources. In their presentation during the initial webinar, the CRFM will provide important data on hurricane impacts on the sector and explain their role in shaping strategies for boosting preparedness, resilience, and recovery.
“We look forward to seeing you online on Friday, May 9, as we build synergies and strengthen our networking with other presenters from partner organizations, including the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), Caribbean Agricultural Health and Food Safety Agency (CAHFSA), Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI), Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA),” concluded the statment.
