A 31-year-old man from Windblow Castle Bruce is now formally charged with the murder of  Tricia Wiltshire, of Castle Bruce who resided at Stockfarm.

Taino Roberts appeared before Magistrate Gloria Augustus today where the charge of murder was read to him.

Since the matter is an indictable offence– warrants a trial by jury– Roberts was not required to enter a plea.

According to information from the police, Wiltshire, 30-years-old, was discovered lying naked in a pool of blood on the floor of her apartment about 8:30 p.m on Sunday 24, January 2021.

“The discovery was made by a neighbour who went to investigate upon hearing screaming coming from her [Wiltshire] apartment and shortly thereafter, took a smell of liquefied petroleum gas coming from that apartment,” Inspector John Carbon stated.

He said Wiltshire had received multiple lacerations to her neck, chest and other parts of her body.

Her body was transported to the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital where it was examined and pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.

Carbon further stated that foul play was suspected in the matter.

At the court hearing, Taino, who came unrepresented, informed the court of his desire for legal representation. As a result, attorney-at-law, Joshua Francis, offered his services to the accused which he accepted.

Bail is not open to Taino and as such, he is remanded at the Dominica State Prison.

The matter was adjourned to June 29, 2021, for Preliminary Inquiry (PI) to determine if there is enough evidence for it to be tried at the High court.

Wilshire’s homicide is the second recorded for 2021, the first being Bernadette Nicholas, 86 year-old female of Grand Bay who resided at Woodford Hill.

A person or persons unknown wilfully, maliciously and with intent, targeted this young woman and killed her. The picture of the accused tells me, he should have been the one to receive the stabbing. Did the neighbour heard any vehicle pull away,if the accused walk, someone must have seen him.the murder weapon with finger prints, leave no stones unturned with concrete alibi. I am in disbelief and in a state of shock

Ladies watch who you involve yourselves with. These little psychopaths running around. they give you clues from time to time. Ignorant and violent outburst, an afinity for violence. That seems to be what our young ladies gravitate towards. Some think if he isnt aggressive he isnt man enough. Being a decent gentleman is for feminine men they think. They want an man that can handle them. We see how that turns out. This man is acting like an emotional young man who had not much paternal guidance in his upbringing.

DNO what nonesense is that nuh in one article you showing a completely different person. Saying one was convicted of a murder. In another article you saying the suspect was arrested. Is that nonesense that stands as journalism in your media house ? So the guy waiting for sentencing on a crime that was committed while he was arrested and held in prison during his trial. And in another story you saying that a completely different guy was arrested for the murder. What a joke . And when people point out your discrepancy your admin saying that the article was corrected yet I see no correction in the article . Your news organisation is just a whole mess on its own

ADMIN: You may be confusing this recent case with that of the murder of Tricia Riviere which occurred in 2015.

Both murders occurred in Stockfarm and the victims have the same first name and both have recently been covered in the news.

ADMIN: That’s not correct. This article clearly refers to Tricia Wiltshire the other article refers to Tricia Riviere.

    Dear Family,
I told you guys that God knows who killed her, and He would be caught someday. I hope you all find some kind of peace, knowing that that Taliban look-a-like, is off the streets and will never hurt another person.
Two young lives wasted just like that; I hope they lock him up and absolutely forget about him in that cell.
    Time heals all wounds…

It is only fair to state that this alleged murderer has psychiatric issues/mental disorder.

My condolences to the grieving mother and father who’ve lost a precious soul.

The Most High is in Control.

    A billion thanks.

What could motivate someone to literally slaughter a fellow human being, especially a lady, who had no beef with you? It’s really mind boggling.

I don’t believe that Capital punishment deters crime. What I believe though, that, if you murder someone in such a gruesome and horrific manner, you should forfeit your life.

I know that all murder suspects should be afforded legal representation. If I were an attorney at law, I don’t think that I could have defended this guy unless I had incontrovertible evidence that he did not commit such a heinous crime.

Again, sincerest condolences to the immediate family members, relatives and friends of the dearly departed, Tricia Wiltshire.

Sad! Sad!! Indeed! What a waste of youthful life, energy on both counts. “Another man” – 31 years old and “languishing in prison”. Another parent, family community mourns the tragic loss of a family member. The family of the suspect seemingly are not interested as he was unrepresented at his arraignment. Sad!

Will we learn? Will our young people learn how to settle scores without the shedding of blood? Father help

Gendered violence. This must stop. Men somehow believe they have the last word over our bodies and, as seen here, our lives. No means no! Stop means stop! If you break up, let her go. I don’t even need to know the ins-and-outs- of this particular case because this is a global issue that happens time and time again – deadly mentality that “If I cannot have you then no one else can.”

All pleas about innocent until proven guilty aside, I say HANG HIM until he ded, ded, ded (short dead). You can’t be so cold hearted even walking around well dressed in the village and environs after the fact looking for woman. Then man just think that what they do in Guada can be done in Dca with no repercussions. I hope the prison officers don’t allow him to escape because things so lax at the prison fellas like that can escape easily if they try. Prepare the gallows I say! Let us start by hanging those those that are already there for hanging.

Justice for both Tricia Reviere and Tricia Wiltshire ASAP!

I earnestly hope that the police have the right culprit. I must, on this instance, commend them for making progress with this most gruesome murder so expeditiously.

It’s my hope also that this particular murder case doesn’t languish in the court for multiple years. The family of the deceased, friends, acquaintances, the whole of society need swift justice. Delayed justice is injustice.

May Tricia’s soul rest in everlasting peace.
