Catholic devotional series launches in Dominica

To acknowledge the longstanding Catholic tradition of the Commonwealth of Dominica and the Jubilee Year of Hope, Ms. Heidi Vincent has announced the launch of her Catholic Bible Books Devotional Series©.

This was shared via press release by the author to coincide with February 12, 2025, the inauguration of the nation’s third pilgrimage site located at St. Mary of the Kalinago in Salybia, as reported by DNO.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Roseau was established on April 30, 1850. The number of Catholics in Dominica reached its highest point in 1976, with approximately 70,000 individuals, which accounted for about 89.7% of the country’s total population of 78,000 (Catholic Hierarchy, 2024). Currently, the proportion of Catholics in Dominica has decreased to roughly 60.3%, yet the Commonwealth of Dominica remains one of the most predominantly Catholic nations in the Caribbean.

The books aim to foster engagement among lay Catholics with the deuterocanonical texts and enhance their understanding of Catholic teachings, prayers, and practices.

The series includes three daily devotionals, with additional titles expected in the future. The first devotional, as described by Vincent,  “GET WISDOM: A 91-day Devotional for Growing Catholics,” concentrates on wisdom across six essential life areas: finances, health and desire, communication, mortality, relationships with God, and connections with others. The second installment, “GIVE LOVE: A 91-day Devotional for Searching Catholics,” emphasizes the theme of love, exploring how it can be manifested through acts of kindness, sound advice, companionship, and family involvement. The latest in the series is titled “TAKE COURAGE: A 91-day Devotional for Daring Catholics,” which extracts moral and spiritual insights from the books of Judith, Baruch, Daniel, and Esther, offering strength and encouragement, particularly for seasoned Catholics.
