RIEP Coupe!
A veteran police officer, who was very approachable. A man who served in the SSU with the likes of Butcha, Hobbs, Nicolas George, Lestrade, Lucky, Pierre-Louis, Mility and others when our country was going to hell in a hand basket because of the actions of criminals like Pocosion. We want his family to know that we are truly thankful for his selfless service and may he sleep peacefully with the ancestors. Good soldiers never die!
This is very sad news. I met Cuffy Williams in 1972 when we both entered the first form of the Dominica Grammar School. Even then Cuffy presented as a serious person, with a maturity beyond his years. At that time the Dominica Cadet Corps was a powerful driver of discipline at the DGS – regrettably it went into dormancy at Dominicaβs independence in 1978. When we met in later years Cuffy had occasion to commend the revival of such a disciplined organization among our youth in 2000. On behalf of the Christian family we extend our condolences to the family of Superintendent of Police Cuffy Williams. We honor his service to our country. May the officers and ranks of the Dominica Police Force do the utmost to uphold the noble heritage of those officers who went on before. May his soul rest in peace. We shall remember him.
Gab like you I met Cuffy when we entered DGS in 72. He left school at the end of 3rd form to join the force to help the family.
After many years, I caught up with him when he was an inspector and commander of the south eastern police district in La Plaine. After that we had lots of conversations about life, family, his triumphs and challenges in the force.
I remember when he was later the commander of the CID, he arranged a meeting with then chief Daniel Carbon for an article I was writing about the police.
Another time I called him with a complain oone of his officers in La Plaine who was allegedly harassing and abusing his powers. I told him that the actions of his officers reflects on him. He dealt with the officer swiftly and professionally.
RIP soldier- hope the force- that cornerstone institution can have commanders like you. We sincerely hope so.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Love and blessings Brother-You will be missed.
I DOE know why some people so dunce,the man seeing former SUPERTENDENT he posting former inspector,”I hated school” boy you still hate school,you never learned,your JA.
Why can’t you just consider it as an error? The sympathy offered has more merit my brother.
OMG!
@Lin Clown
Those who know who you are on DNO, a crass illiterate and a shameless idiot, should not be surprised.
I remember when Williams served at Grandbay. He surely did a very good job. Sad he did not serve us longer.
Rest In Peace.
Once i am alive, i shall pay my last respect to you.
I condole with the family members.
Bellevue villager abroad.
R I P former Superintendant Williams.
The community must be very sad. I know that they loved you.
The transition of one of Dominicas great generations. I hope the personnal accounts of men like these from the dred days, Grenada intervention, transition from a British colony to a new State is captured for the sake of history so the good and bad of who we are as a nation is told by the people who lived it. I have heard countless stories from family who were in the heat of things but the veracity of history is in the consistency of the story tellers and thier experience. Some of the Ole dreds like mal are gone and no one captured thier side of the story. we may be missing out on a unique opportunity.
I lived in Bellevue Chopin in the 1980’s.
Former inspector Williams would always hold some of us by the hand, and question ‘why are you not at school today’? I hated school. Later in life i realized he loved us, even if most times we were trying to hide when we saw him.
we loved him very much in Bellevue Chppin.
rest in peace!
@Hmmmmmmmm
So good of you to remember and acknowledge what he did for you all.
I liked this comment.
I am from Bellevue Chopin.
Superintendant Cuffy Williams was not just a police officer, but a very good example in the village as well. He was once a group member and a cricketer in the village.
The village mourns the loss of real police officer.
Rest in peace. May the grieving family members be consoled by Gods grace.
Well done, good and faithful servant. You served at a time when CDPF was a shining example of a professional force.
May your soul rest in eternal peace.
May God give comfort and solace to the grieving family members.ππππππ

I took mourn the death of Supt,Cuffy Williams,I worked with him and I can say this man was one of the most HONEST police officers I have ever met.I hope the police give Mr.Williams all the glory and honour he deserve.I hope we the former police officers get the opportunity to view his body at Police Headquarters.A few months before I saw Mr.Williams display and act of honesty I had never seen before.
If they ask the family members early enough, they may agree to the viewing at headquarters you mentioned.
I knew former superintendant Cuffy Williams myself. He was a complete police officer.
