COMMENTARY: Why members of the Caribbean Diaspora should support Sen. Kamala Harris for VP

Ambassador Curtis Ward

As Host of CaribNation television, I recently had an opportunity to have a conversation with Jamaican-American Attorney Dahlia Walker-Huntington, a Jamaican and Caribbean community leader, and an advocate on a number of issues affecting the Caribbean diaspora.

In particular, we discussed reasons why members of the US-based Caribbean diaspora should support the Democratic ticket of former Vice President Joe Biden for president of the United States and his vice presidential running mate Sen. Kamala Harris. Atty.

Walker-Huntington shared with CaribNation television reasons why she is confident Sen. Harris will be a great vice president in a Biden administration. She described the many attributes Sen. Harris will bring to the office of Vice President that will serve the country well.

Most importantly, as an astute political advocate, Atty. Walker-Huntington also recommended ways members of the Caribbean diaspora can effectively engage in the election for president of the United States.

I Francisco doh going an call anybody name eh; cause I farid trouble; but when I boy read something like this I must wonder if some people read the article to which they responded to!

” I wonder why political parties get involved with the issues like abortion, is that not an issue that only God can judge?” (Elizabeth Xavier).

After reading that I was bewildered, because I read the whole article and did not see any place where that man talked about or mentioned abortion.

So, my question is this; has anyone who read the article where the debate seems centered around Caribbean people in the American diaspora, and voting for Carmella Harris, and Biden.

Mind you the only Caribbean island named in the issue is Jamaica, whereas he speaks of what seems a Caribbean (West Indian) diaspora, he has no clue that other islands besides Jamaica exists!

I have not read anyplace in his comments where the word abortion is mentioned; if it mentioned Elizabeth need point out the paragraph!

I wonder why political parties get involved with the issues like abortion, is that not an issue that only God can judge?

One party says no, the other one says yes; what about the opinion of those who are following them?

There can never be a “for” or “against” because both parties have followers who are “part of” and not “part of” that situation.

I am saying that there is no way all of those, who follow the “democratic party”, is for abortion neither is all of those who follow the “republican party” is against it. This is simply saying that God has no place in the decision of men of politics

These men need to realize that God is the “Primary Decision Maker” in all the Nations of the World. The judgment is with Him alone

The Day of the Great Tribulation is around the corner and they will discover that their pedestal is not as high as they thought–they will have no place and no one to run to as they try to escape from their godless self.

The thing is he lie like hell; i.e. where he said that the democrats controlled both the house and the senate when Obama was president!

No such thing, he lied; he supports Trump because birds of a feather flocked together!

That was as of June 2020, as of this very day, he has lied more than a hundred times; I counted!

His total lies since June first is more than twenty thousand, he’s  president for almost four years!

All day he out there telling lies, the kind of stuff John Charles like to hear!

ADMIN: The Democratic party had the majority in both the house and senate in the US from Jan 3rd 2009 – Jan 3rd 2011 while Obama was president: https://history.house.gov/Congressional-Overview/Profiles/111th/

Well Admin, seems like I have to shoot me in my foot, because John-Charles is correct this time; so I must take back my words calling him a liar this time eh!

        Hahahahahahahahahaha!

I don’t want to say I apologize, because Elizabeth will say ” you had to apologize to people on DNO.”

Anyway as I stated in America there is always somewhere one can find and verify the truth.

        So, here it is:

“How did the Democrats lose the House of Congress?

At the start of the Obama Presidency, the Democrats controlled both houses of Congress. By the end of the Obama Presidency, the Republicans controlled both houses of Congress.
The policies of the Obama Administration have been so unpopular that the Democrats lost historic numbers of seat in the House and lost the Senate.

And I would like to add, had it not be for Obama, there would not be an American economy this day, that bastard Trump is taking credit for a good economy not giving Barack credit!

“My prayers would have been of no help to them”. @Eagle-Eyed, You are right on with that statement above; God does not receive any prayer which comes from the mouth of folks like you.

Who are you, and those like to judge the servants of God? Jesus warned us not to do that!

While you are judging them as “corrupted hypocritical and racist Christian Evangelicals”, tell us how perfect you are.

The day that you all would stop judging people because they are not what you all are, it would be a day that the World would become a heaven for man to live in–unfortunately, that is not possible

But there is certainly going to be the day you all will stand before the Great White Judgment Seat of God. He will not ask you about your so-called: “corrupted, hypocritical and racist Christian Evangelicals”, He will ask you about your own ways –make sure to have some positive answers for Him; or else woe be unto you.

When Obama took office after the 2008 elections. He came in with a super majority. Democrats controlled the Senate and the House. He did not need a single Republican vote to forward his agenda. Now see Trump, he did not have a super majority. And see what he did for blacks in 3 years.Don’t forget I offered us$2000 if any one could name what Obama and Biden did for us (Blacks) in 8 years. And no one took me up on this challenge.God is my witness I would honor my words.

Guy unless you wish to be noted a liar, you need to be very careful with what you say; because if in Obama’s tenure the Democrats controlled both the Senate and the House!

McConnell would not have said as in the following.
I do not know your place of residence, but if you are resident of the United States, you don’t know anything which transpired from the day Obama became president to this day.
Be reminded, the Republicans controlled the Senate during all of Obama’s tenure, everything he accomplished was by using his presidential powers!

Do not only assume things; America is not Dominica, if we do not know there is always a way for us to find out the truth.

During Obama’s tenure nothing presented to the Senate ever got through; they were all blocked by the leader of the Senate Mitch McConnell.

If indeed your claim that in Obama day the Democrats controlled both the Senate and the house Obama would have accomplished much more.

Do not try to impress people when you don’t actually know what you are talking about; try to remember even if there is political corruption in America, transparency exists!

I can tell you how many lies trump told since becoming President, and most probably before becoming president; we fact check in America!

I can safely refute all of you comments of events in America.

On August 2008 John McCain and Barack Obama participated in a forum at the Saddle Back Church. Moderated by pastor Rick Warren.
    Obama was asked by Warren.
“At what point does a baby get human rights, in your view?”
    Obama answered.
“…answering that question with specificity…uh…you know is,is…uh…above my pay, grade.”

When Obama came on the scene in 2008, We heard several voices, calling on those of us who lives in the U.S. asking us to vote for him because he is BLACk. I can remember Dr. Thompson Fountain saying Obama will help the Caribbean islands.Parry Bellot uttered the same chorus. If you go down in the archives, don’t be surprised if you find this gentleman, Curtis Ward promoting Obama and Biden and after 8yrs, we have nothing to show.
Now they are back with Kamala Harris and Biden.
My fellow blacks open your eyes and start thinking for your selves.

If we are very knowledgeable about American politics as we think we are , let us be aware that Obama struggled with a republican majority in the senate whose sole purpose was to stall every ideas and initiatives for changes which was inclusive regardless of color. The insecurities of the white male in this country could not express their open racist resistance without risking their constituencies therefor, here comes Donald Trump and the rest is history. make America white again, challenge Obama’s birth right, call every black country Sh…….t hole, threaten to stop chain migration, build boarder walls, threaten to cxl student visas, refuse to alert America regarding corona virus etc. Word of caution, you will discover the real America if this guy wins a second term, ask David Duke.

Regardless of your opinion, to which you are entitled; does she need anything from you? One thing that this situation in the US has shown is that there are many who are unable to think for themselves and can be easily lead astray. I had always wondered how they were able to get so many people to drink the cool-aid in that South American country years ago – but no more!

You come  on your smart phone talking crap!

State one cause of action you know Joe Biden took which you believe makes him a racists!
Why don’t you all mind your  business in Dominica; why don’t you argue about removing the obstacle of progress in Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit out of office; giving way to someone else to try and develop Dominica for people like you to find something to do?

Biden racists, or not has nothing to d with you; regardless as to who wins this election in November; America will always be the richest nation on the planet.

Election day will come and gone,  you will not hear neighbors arguing about who’s racists and who’s not!

I am a citizen of the United States; however, I have very little to say about American politics, because whichever way it goes it does not affect me in anyway.

Resolve Dominica’s problems then dip into Americas issues which does not concern you!

      September 14, 2020

Unfortunately Dr Shillingford, There are some black people that are just lost causes. You can take them out of slavery but you cannot take the slavery out of them. I would like to suggest praying for them but as you mentioned, some of them are already corrupted by the hypocritical and racist Christian Evangelicals so i suppose they pray every day. My prayers would have been of no help to them. We can only live in hope for the emancipation of the entire black race.

DNO!!! ADMIN!!! Please!!! Why do you allow idiots like that to use this platform to peddle their stupidity. You run the risk of losing more intelligent people from using this platform to engage others in more intelligent discussions.

ADMIN: We will break with the norm here and plainly state that we do not support what he is encouraging.

However, this comment does not violate our comment policy (notably this particular poster has made several other recent submissions that have not been approved).

In the interest of upholding free speech (which facilitates intelligent discussion) we must, in the very least, tolerate views that we don’t necessarily agree with and ,better still, appreciate the dialogue that they can help foster.

How do you think you will be judged when you tell God that you were against abortion, but you supported a president who said that he grabs women by the vagina; has been accused by over 12 women for sexual harassment; has been accused by at least woman for raping her in a changing booth at Bergdorf Goodman; tells at least 15 lies a day; has perfected the art of deception; is immoral, amoral and dishonest; makes fun of disabled people; insults people who disagree with him or asks him pertinent questions; a racist who incites violence against Black and brown people; who panders to white supremacists; who cheated all his contractors because he refused to pay them after they completed the job; etc, etc, etc.
