The Community-Oriented Policing Unit joined the Newtown Primary School PTA meeting as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen school-community partnerships on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

A statement from the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) mentioned that during the meeting, Corporal Dion Moses highlighted the important role parents play in guiding students positively, “especially in light of growing concerns surrounding school violence, bullying, and ill-discipline.”

He encouraged parents to take a more active role in their children’s upbringing and to maintain closer relationships in order to better understand what is happening in their lives.

Corporal Moses further advised parents to refrain from coming onto the school compound, “to engage in quarrels or heated arguments with teacher,” stressing that disputes should be handled respectfully and through proper channels.

He reaffirmed the full commitment of the CDPF to working with parents and educators to ensure that schools remain safe and supportive learning environments for all students.

The statement concluded, “Together, we can build safer schools and stronger communities.”
