The Dominica Police Force (DPF) hit the streets to put “Community first” under its Community Engagement Program, spearheaded by the Community Policing Unit. Carrying out foot patrols in the Pottersville and Bay Town neighborhoods on Friday, January 2, 2026, officers took the opportunity to connect with local residents and business owners through engaging conversations, shared a CDPF statement on Facebook.

The report highlighted that these interactions were positively received, characterized by “laughter and positive moments as residents offered humorous jokes and warm interactions.”

Additionally, the statement emphasized that community members voiced their gratitude for the police presence, especially amidst concerns over the recent spike in violence, notably gun-related offenses.

Residents also expressed their desire for these patrols to become more frequent, encouraging law enforcement to maintain a consistent presence in the area.

The Dominica Police Force added that it remains dedicated to building stronger bonds with the community to foster safer and more secure neighborhoods for everyone.

Francisco you should be ashamed of yourselfThe people of Dominica live a better life in Dominican than in the USA where you live.Dominicans do not hustle to service as you do.In Dominica there are no food stamps, nobody live on handouts from the church, there are no soup kitchen and no halfway houses. There is no section 8 in Dominica, most Dominicans own their own house. On Skid Row in LA where you live, the number of homeless is more than the population of Dominica. The level of prostitution on FIGUEROA street in you state is world knowledge.Street people in Dominica are not really street people, they are on the street because they have a mental problem.90%of Dominicans living in the USA rent,In America if you do not have medical insurance you are dead,in Dominica it is different.People are not desperate enough in Dominica to die of a drug overdose,in America they die by the hundreds. That is coming from a person who did not go to America backdoor or on a visitors visa, one who paid TAXES.

Last year my nephew Loftus Colley Lewis died from colon cancer, after suffering for years! When he was advised to go to visit a doctor: he responded; “with what?”
The with what means he was penniless! So some time last year while in my house on skid row my phone rang: someone detailed his condition to me and request I help him.
I wired him some money to go and visit a doctor; who got him admitted! He died about one week after admission to the hospital.
His death is proof that people die in Dominica for lack of medical attention; all due to poverty!
You see all the crap you talking its all from your distorted mind, you contending that homeless people in Dominica are not homeless but mentally ill, implies you might be mad or something: It is a known fact that the majority of people on skid row in America suffer from mental illness; soup kitchens and such are not bad, less people are hungry here than in Dominica which population is less than fifty thousand people!

You know, after viewing all the pictures; posted, showing police going from house to house talking to people! If there was any doubt in my mind that the majority of Dominicans do live in dire poverty, the environment and shambles I saw people living in; the people who came up with this nonsense about community policing should be ashamed to exposed the living conditions of poor people with whom they are taking!
What is the purpose of this so-called community policing?
They exposed the shacks of the poor and economically helpless, talking fart: can anything they convey in words change the living conditions of those unfortunate poverty stricken people?
Some of the people are body abled, capable of working for financial gain: whereas there are no industries, except the sale of passports, one wonders how these people survive!
Humans should not live and exit under such conditions in this modern era!
What is seen is a crime against humanity; that’s Roosevelt Skerrit kingdom, Dominica.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 4 Thumb down 23
