Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel denounced “the immoral statements made by the US government against Cuba and reaffirmed readiness to defend the country.”
Referring indirectly to remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump, a press release from the Cuban Consular Office quoted the Cuban leader as highlighting on social media that “those who turn everything into a business, even human lives, have no moral authority to point the finger at Cuba in any way, absolutely in any way.”
The recent capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by U.S. forces has thwarted arrangements between the countries and resulted in Cuba losing its biggest oil supplier.
On Sunday, January 11, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump took to social media stating: “THERE WILL BE NO MORE OIL OR MONEY GOING TO CUBA – ZERO! I strongly suggest they make a deal, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.”
In his post, Díaz-Canel reportedly argued that the current outrage expressed by those criticizing Cuba stems from their frustration with the nation’s sovereign choice of its political system.
According to the statement, the Cuban president addressed critics who blame the Revolution for the severe economic hardships, telling them they should feel ashamed and choose silence instead.
Claiming that such accusations are rooted in the harsh, oppressive measures imposed by the U.S. for over sixty years, which continue to threaten to intensify, Díaz-Canel reaffirmed that Cuba remains a free, independent, and sovereign nation that rejects external impositions, as per the release.
He explicitly stated: “Cuba does not attack; it has been attacked by the US for 66 years, and it does not threaten; it prepares, ready to defend the Homeland to the last drop of blood. #CubaIsCourage.”
On Sunday, state media extensively covered the Cuban leader’s remarks, set against a backdrop of ongoing U.S. action Venezuela and what he identifies as escalating threats from the White House directed at various nations.
For Trump to go to Venezuela to capture the alleged drug dealer Maduro and then make Maduro’s deputy the acting president, and let the one in Dominica aka Maduro Jr , with all the DNA of Maduro ; I am saying to leave Maduro Jr untouched in Dominica means the corruption/ drug trafficking/ money laundering network of Maduro will still continue
No more viva cuba, we have had enough, free up the cubanos..
Defend what if the US seriously attacked Cuba the army would just fold and surrender, the people of Cuba is suffering I mean the sanctions and blockade on Cuba definitely has a part to play in that though. Their government needs a reform too have free elections and limit state owned involvement in the private sector, Cuba already has an amazing health sector
It irks me when people repeat Trump’s BS when he threatens countries like Cuba and Venezuela using democracy and fair elections as his excuse. Trump is the least democratic of all western leaders and admirers autocratic leaders as long as he can get something from them that can benefit him personally. Trump lost the elections in 2020 and up to this day still repeats his BS that he won. Yet when he won his second term, no one claimed his election was fraudulent or tried to prevent him from taking office. Now that Trump think that he is in control of Venezuela’s oil and threatening to deprive the Cubans of this oil which their economy depended on to survive, maybe the Cubans should develop closer relations with the Chinese and Russians and get their oil from them instead. The Cubans defeated these imperialist in the past and will do it again in spite of the US superior weapons of war. The weak Caribbean leaders who buckle at the knees to Trump one lift a finger to help them.
34 count Felon Trump is using all this nonsense as a distraction from the Epstein files, notice they are not talking about the Epstein files anymore, He is acting like a Mob Boss.
