CYEN Dominica joins DSWMC’s ‘Clean A Mile’ as part of World Environment Day 2025

The Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN) Dominica has announced its involvement in “Clean A Mile,” a national coastal cleanup organized by the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation.

A CYEN press release reports that the event is being held in observance of World Environment Day 2025 and marks the 40th anniversary of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), an initiative led by Ocean Conservancy.

Scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2025, the cleanup will cover a route from Bellhall Beach to Cabrits. The initiative aims to promote environmental awareness and combat coastal pollution. Buses will leave Roseau at 7:00 AM, and volunteers from across the country are encouraged to participate in this national effort.

CYEN Dominica is collaborating with a coalition of partners, including:

– Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation (DSWMC)
– WEPlanet: Small Actions, Big Change
– Project CETI
– Ocean Conservancy

This event is part of the broader International Coastal Cleanup, now in its 40th year, which mobilizes millions of volunteers globally to remove marine debris, raise environmental awareness, and foster responsible behavior toward coastal ecosystems. CYEN Dominica said that it is proud to be part of this international movement, emphasizing youth-led initiatives for environmental sustainability.

Interested individuals can register by scanning the QR code on the event flyer or by visiting CYEN Dominica’s social media pages. RSVPs are now open.
