Derelict vehicle removal continues across Dominica

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) in collaboration with the Solid Waste Management Corporation (DSWMC), is continuing its mission to rid the streets of Dominica of derelict vehicles.

According a statement from the CDPF, during the latest operation, several abandoned vehicles were tagged for removal in the following areas:

Bath Estate

Stockfarm

Under the Canefield Cliff

St. Aroment

Tarish Pit

Cocoa Bottom

Morne Daniel

Trafalgar

Wotten Waven

Bellevue Chopin

Officials are urging owners of derelict vehicles to remove them immediately. The statement added that failure to comply may result in enforcement action, including fines and removal at the owner’s expense. The Police Force says it will continue to take firm action against individuals who neglect these regulations.

“Let’s work together to keep our communities clean, safe, and beautiful,” the statement said.

Is it not possible to track down the owners of these abandoned vehicles and charge them the cost of removing them? These actions of just leaving unwanted derelict vehicles on the roadside for someone else to clear is the same as fly-tipping. It is about time these rogues start paying the price with their wallets. We need stronger environmental protection and traffic enforcement laws to help solve this problem.

All that and they have no facilities to crush them or shred them for recycling
All that scrap metal can be sold to Trinidad for recycling

Congratulation to the police, job well done.I hope they do something about all the damn police reserve parking put on the public road all over Roseau.Police reserve parking for messenger, cleaner and all office employee when valid vehicle license holders cannot get to park.If parking has to be reserved on the PUBLIC road it should be for the manager, not all dog and cat.Anybody found putting any police reserve parking sign or any object,on the PUBLIC road without permission from the police should be arrested. But again Dominica police officers are slackers, the walk all over the place with their ticket book bend like an Australian boomerang.
