COVID-19: DFA postpones all football matches

The Dominica Football Association (DFA) has taken a decision to postpone “all football-related activities” in Dominica with immediate effect because of growing concerns over the COVID-19 coronavirus in Dominica.

According to a release from PRO of the DFA Gerald George, “amid growing concerns over the coronavirus and the increasing calls for social distancing, the Dominica Football Association has taken a decision to postpone all football activities effective today Saturday 21st March, 2020 until further notice.”

He continued, “This means that the Premier League, Division One league and the DFA/Sports Division Secondary School Girls League, as well as all national training, are postponed. We ask that all players do their personal training and remain safe.”

But I don’t get it . Skerrit and his team telling us that Dominica does not have coronavirus and as a result, no need to close schools, no need for social distancing, no need to panic: yet, we seeing national football league canceling all games although we don’t have regional and international teams where the virus is, participating and we see Skerrit putting standpipes in Roseau so according to him people could wash their hands so that they don’t spread the virus; but if it is not hear why all this? I think if they are sure it is not here then emphasis should be on keeping out and that we should do by securing our boarders like our airports and sea ports by screening every single person that comes in. I mean you go to the airports and you don’t see screening, don’t see health personel, water hardly flowing so you could wash hands. Just foolishness in this country. All you see is a form of false pretence without any commitment from the authorities.
