On September 10, 2025, the Diocese of Roseau announced a special focus on the upcoming Jubilee celebrations, emphasizing the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.” In a press release, the Diocese shared that the event aims to honor individuals involved in the Legal and Protective Services sector, recognizing their vital contributions to society.
A prominent feature of the Jubilee observance will be a Solemn Eucharistic Mass scheduled for Sunday, September 14, at 9:00 AM. The service will take place at the Roseau Cathedral and will be led by His Lordship Bishop Kendrick Forbes of Roseau. Assisting in the celebration will be Fr. Nigel Karam, the Dean of the Cathedral, serving as co-celebrant.
The mass is expected to draw a diverse congregation that includes current and retired legal professionals, police officers, firefighters, prison staff, cadets, guides, scouts, and personnel from private security firms. Among the distinguished attendees are Her Excellency the President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Sylvanie Burton, and Mr. Burton, along with government ministers and members of Parliament.
In addition to the main celebration in Roseau, the release states that similar events will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and other parishes across various districts. These gatherings aim to include officers residing outside the capital area, ensuring widespread participation.
‘Jubilee for Legal and Protective Services is a Catholic Church celebration to honour and give thanks to all those who serve and protect our country and communities in justice, law enforcement and security. It is also to celebrate the men and women who have committed themselves to this noble duty, often putting themselves at risk in the name of justice, honour and peace.
“The celebration also [serves] to remember the sacrifices and challenges they face in the unwavering dedication that drives them to serve other,” concluded the media statement.
