Discover Dominica Authority announces post-Mas Domnik press conference: A Reflection on the ‘Real Mas’ and a glimpse into future festivities

The Discover Dominica Authority is thrilled to announce the upcoming post-Mas Domnik Experience press conference, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. The event will commence at 10:00 am at the Old Mill Cultural Center.

Mas Domnik, affectionately known as ‘The Real Mas’, is a vibrant celebration of Dominica’s rich culture and enduring spirit of festivity. This year’s Mas Dominik experience was a resplendent spectacle, showcasing an array of colorful costumes, pulsating Calypso and Bouyon rhythms, and the infectious enthusiasm of participants and spectators alike.

The press conference intends to honor the winners of various national pageants and competitions, providing them with a platform to recount their captivating journeys and the profound impact of their victories. Their stories are a testament to the talent, hard work, and dedication that underpin the success of ‘The Real Mas’.

Key representatives from various sectors, including environmental health, and the Calypso and Bouyon music fraternities, will attend the conference. They will share their evaluations of this year’s carnival and provide insightful perspectives on improving future events.

Reflective discussions form an integral part of the conference. Contributors such as event enthusiasts, representatives from Discover Dominica Authority, the Dominica Festivals Committee, and the road parade committee will share their experiences and insights. These reflections will offer a comprehensive overview of the Mas Domnik Experience, highlighting both its triumphs and areas for growth.

Excitingly, the conference will also provide a glimpse into future festivities. DDA will reveal some insights about the 13th Jazz ‘n Creole Festival, carded for May 5, 2024.

All who have a keen interest in Dominica’s vibrant cultural heritage and festivities are invited to join in celebrating the achievements of this year’s Mas Domnik and envisioning the future of ‘The Real Mas’.

The event will be carried live on the Dominica Festivals page.

How do you mean to join to celebrate the achievements of Mas 2023, what about what did not go well cause I have a lot to say about this year’s carnival. 1. we NEED to bring back the costume parade on the Monday this Tuesday parade does not work ; 2. Jouvert should end at 8am and to start from 3am so the lapeau cabwit bands can have the opportunity to be on the road and the creativity of individuals can be highlighted, electronic bands are taking over and killing the spirit of jouvert and our carnival heritage of the drums and pans. The electronic bands have Monday and Tuesday to be on the road. This is the reasons why the lapeau cabwit bands stay in their community where the tradition is appreciated; 3. Calypsos to be played on the road I was ashamed to hear the bands playing Trinidad calypso and soca on the road…shame on our DJ’s. 4. Support to be provided to bands like Thunderbirds and Carnival corner to bring back the creativity of making customes all we see now are feathers.
