Discover Dominica Authority heads to St Maarten for week of promotions

The Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) is scheduled to conduct a series of promotional initiatives in St. Maarten from September 2 to September 6, 2025.  The Authority indicated that the activities aim to highlight Dominica’s distinctive tourism features and to generate excitement ahead of the upcoming 25th edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF), slated for October 24–26, 2025.

Representing the DDA are Public Relations and Communications Specialist Monelle Alexis and Marketing Executive Markerah George, according to a press release on the matter. It states that their objective is to engage with local media outlets, partners, and the public to strengthen connections between Dominica and the St. Maarten market.

A notable event during this visit is a press conference scheduled for Wednesday, September 3, at 10:00 AM, at Infinity Restaurant, located within Oyster Bay Resort. The session will include a presentation showcasing Dominica’s key attractions, an overview of the WCMF highlights, appearances by artists from St. Maarten who are participating in the festival, and a question-and-answer segment with the media.

On Friday, September 5, the delegation will host “Dominica Night” from 6:00 to 10:00  PM at Tj Cassava Coal Pot on Sicker Garden Road #49. The event is free to attend and will feature live performances from Rohie Ryddim, an artist confirmed for the WCMF 2025 lineup, along with a DJ set by DJ Chef.

Throughout the week, the DDA plans to conduct numerous media interviews aimed at promoting travel to Dominica. These discussions, according to the DDA, will emphasize the island’s natural beauty, vibrant culture, and the authentic Caribbean experience that distinguishes it as a premier destination.

The Discover Dominica Authority extended an invitation to media representatives, partners, members of the Dominican community, and the St. Maarten public to participate in these activities and join the collective effort in building anticipation for WCMF 2025.

No Marshall. Never heard of one. Visitors will be happy to hear from you about the guidebook so they can book their accommodation to start with. :)
Seriously, it is a major problem.

DDA and DFC should be ashamed of themselves for not promoting WCMF 25, at the recently staged Labor Day festivities in Brooklyn. Imagine, a village reunion for July, 2026, was promoted, but not WCMF 25🤔

Many patrons and newbies are looking forward to te WCMF 2025. Whereas the promotions, though late is a good idea, where do you put the thousands who want to visit? After 25 years logistics is a major capacity weakness that we don’t hear much about. Not only are almost all places taken, how do visitors know where too look regarding apartments etc with hotels already booked? Yes, people are excited to come. But where do they go?

Have you ever heard of a guidebook?
