The island’s breathtaking landscapes will be front and center during HikeFest 2026, set to take place throughout May, to entice both residents and visitors to experience the heart of what makes Dominica the “Nature Island” of the Caribbean.

Under the inspiring theme “Beyond the Beaten Path,”  a Dominica Hotel & Tourism Association (DHTA) release stated that this year’s event encourages adventurers of all levels to explore Dominica’s pristine wilderness, uncover hidden gems, and immerse themselves in the island’s natural beauty.

HikeFest 2026 is designed to showcase Dominica’s diverse and captivating environments, from secluded lakes and secret pools to rugged forests, dramatic ridgelines, and majestic waterfalls. The event promotes sustainable tourism by encouraging exploration off the typical tourist trails, offering a fresh perspective on the island.

Spanning five Saturdays in May, HikeFest features a carefully curated selection of hikes suitable for beginners, casual walkers, and seasoned trekkers alike. Each guided hike is led by experienced professionals who will share insights into Dominica’s unique biodiversity, history, and cultural heritage.

Whether you’re an experienced trekker or a curious visitor, DHTA encourages everyone to register and participate.

The event aims to foster a connection with nature, encourage exploration of lesser-known trails, and celebrate the island’s reputation as the Caribbean’s premier adventure destination.

Isn’t ot oxymoronic that the DHTA is relying on the natural picturesque landscape of Dominica to attract visitors to the island while the government gives the Chinese carte blanche permission to bulldoze it and cause irreparable damage? Irony of irony indeed!

All those who are resisting this systematic destruction of the pristine environment (ecocide) kudos to you. Your unwavering efforts to save this land from foreign sharks aided and abetted by an uncaring, apathetic prime minister, shows that there are still a few good men and women in Dominica. Let’s keep hope alive by our actions.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 2 Thumb down 9
