Chinese Ambassador to Dominica, His Excellency Chu Maoming has announced that a distribution center for Chinese goods will be established in Dominica.
He made the announcement during a press conference held recently.
“Not long ago, we hosted a delegation from Yiwu, Zhejiang, who will be responsible for building the Distribution Center of Chinese Goods in Dominica,” he said. “Currently, the project is progressing actively, and we believe that in the near future, retail businesses in Dominica will enjoy greater convenience from this development.”
Ambassador Chu continued, “We will cultivate new growth drivers, such as green trade and digital trade, support provinces and cities where conditions permit in developing new types of offshore trade, and boost border trade.”
He added, “ We will host major trade events to high standards, such as the China International Import Expo, the China Import and Export Fair, the China International Fair for Trade in Services, the Global Digital Trade Expo, and the China International Consumer Products Expo [And] we will promote Smart Customs development and cooperation to further simplify customs clearance procedures.”
In recent years, Dominica has actively sent delegations to China to participate in the aforementioned exhibitions, with distinctive products leaving a deep impression on Chinese consumers and creating business opportunities.
“This year, we will continue to provide support for more groups from Dominica to attend exhibitions in China,” he stated.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the Chinese government will expand and stabilize foreign trade and investment.
“Regardless of changes in the external environment, we should remain steadfast in our commitment to opening up,” the Ambassador noted. “ We will steadily expand institutional opening up and take the initiative to open wider and advance unilateral opening up in a well-ordered way, so as to promote reform and development through greater openness.”
“We will promote cross-border e-commerce by improving logistics services for cross-border delivery and boosting development of overseas warehouses. We will expand the functions of overseas economic and trade cooperation zones, boost trade in intermediate goods, and help diversify markets,” he continued.
He also said that China occupies an important position in the global economic landscape, and its growth targets significantly impact global economic expectations. Furthermore, he stated, these growth projections send a strong signal that China’s economy remains resilient in the face of challenges, unwavering in its commitment to high-quality development, and provides greater confidence and strength to a world economy filled with uncertainties.
Not only does China have confidence in the economy but also has the methods and actions to achieve its goals, he asserted.
Ambassador Chu said this year China will stay committed to pursuing progress while ensuring stability, promoting stability through progress, upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground, establishing the new before abolishing the old, and promoting systematic integration and efficient coordination.
“We will prioritize high-quality development, implement more proactive and effective macro policies, issue approximately $180 billion in ultra-long-term special government bonds, and carry out special actions to boost consumption,” he noted. “ We will expand domestic demand comprehensively, foster future industries such as biotechnology, quantum technology, embodied intelligence, and 6G, and accelerate the implementation of landmark reform measures.”
People of Dominica..Take note !!!
The US government is looking at this arrangement. They are suspecting that China is trying to avoid US sanctions / tariffs on various goods by establishing warehouses like this outside the Chinese mainland in countries (like Dominica) that have preferential trade arrangements with the US. This can turn out very bad for Dominica.
This arrangement has to be monitored closely by authorities.
What Dominica needs is machinery for access to feeder roads. Dominica is an agriculture country, we need to process our foods. we need technology. we do not want to be fed for a day. We want our children to be3 able to eat. what about an it school, what about better schools. what about different well equipped health centers.
the basic needs of life Food, Health, Housing, Education, Clothing, the ability to earn a living
when you earn a living from having a good education you will be able to make a house, buy clothes, food eat healthy. How can ywe achieve that?
Ehbeh nou fini bat!
No chance of Dominica manufacturing, producing or exporting anything! The people applauding this craziness did you all read and understand the implications of this? This is a one way Chinese exports from China to Dominica via this hub. What is this to get excited about? Even those Dominicans who are sent to trade exhibitions in China, like Melissa and her delegation, to buy Chinese goods for her store, is not to export Dominica products! Ask the Government of Dominica Statistical Division what is the percentage of Dominica imports versus exports(?) We produce nothing. We export nothing, except our earnings that we send overseas. How are we going to build the country by sending all our money overseas on imports?
Why the Chinese’s are not providing business forum, technical skills and 0% interest loan to our small entrepreneurs to develop our local products for the international market…..This is all TAKE TAKE from Dominica and no GIVE , GIVE.
When will this administration protect the future of this country………..
If this present administration cared about the citizens, he would look to improve the citizens’ lives by creating jobs for them. China has taken over the island and there’s nothing he can do because he owes China. It seems like things are getting worse by the minute. Dominicans can’t even protest because he has his backup in place if they do as he has already threaten the protestors. Where are the citizens’ rights? There is no democracy in
Dominica.
The whole of Dominica has become a big supermarket and a dumping ground for Chinese cheap and inferior quality goods.
Dominica is in dire need of help with its agriculture, food processing and manufacturing sectors. No assistance from the #2 economy in the world?
What we need is a Chinese Export Center complimented by pre-arranged markets for our agriculture products and a factory for processing/ packaging excessive outputs. We also need a very large high tech electronics manufacturing facility and a grant, not loan, of 1Billion USD to build a modern deep water port.
Your Kingdom style embassy at Morne Daniel needs to close forthwith because it brings too much negative attention to our island.
Are any Dominican products sold in China?
let them invest in industries that can create employment and bring in foreign currency ,
we have enough importers on the island
We already have a Chinese goods distribution center. Its called Roseau.
That’s good news. Stop the talk, do the work.
It’s obvious the type of relationship China has with Dominica. Instead of helping build factories for manufacturing, or schools for training in tech etc…. they see purely as consumers… service for money!… There is no intention to assist in the development of the citizens… PAY ATTENTION
The colony is growing. we to dumb and unproductive to do our own sh… I hope to see astaphan and save alot close. seems caricom productivity have no place in our region. Any man who depends on another man to give him food clothing and shelter becomes the givers property. This self hatred and threchery we have as black people to ourselves must stop. instead of regional ingenuity and self reliance we see dependency mediocrity and slavery. The former colonialist left but the slaves still remain just to seek another master. Any man who sells his people and country for another just to maintain his or her theft from state need to be hanged. Any leader. be it UWP, Labour, freedom or other minority party leader. If the people don’t teach the current leadership a lesson then what do you think the next dishonorable individual will do?
Welcome, welcome and welcome to our Chinese friends. We extend our hand in partnership with you. Why did it take you so long to realize that Dominica was available and ready for such an investment? Now let’s get the ball rolling ASAP in order to realize the benefits of such an undertaking. This move will definitely transform Dominica and I just can’t wait to find out the impact of such a venture on island. Feeling excited about the whole idea is an understatement.
What does Dominica stand to gain from this type of ‘investment’. One or two local workers to pack shelves and mop the floor? You are blinded by the bright, crimson red, partisan politics.
I invite you to go back and read the article for clarity. I don’t believe you seriously read the article or you’re just being factitious. We’re talking about a distribution center here, a possible game changer and not some sort of mom and pop business. Can’t you see the potential that exists with that type of operation? Talk about partisan, you should be the last person to call someone partisan.
Very, very good idea, there is a Chinatown in every state in the USA.Carnal street in New York is bigger than Roseau.Flushing in Queens is Asian, and the USA owe China $1,000,000,000.
Labour power, you are a sick woman….
yet we have no export portal to send tons and tons of fresh produce to china
China has lots of fresh produce grown on an industrial scale. They also have rural and forested areas thousands of times larger than Dominica.
