Dominica agrees to host third-country refugees under U.S. agreement

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit announced today that as part of ongoing discussions with the United States, following the December 16, 2025 proclamation introducing partial visa restrictions, Dominica has agreed to facilitate third-country refugees

The announcement was made during a press conference.

“Dominica has been engaged in ongoing dialogue with the United States on matters of mutual interest, and an agreement has been reached on one of the primary areas of collaboration,” Skerrit stated. “The United States and the Commonwealth of Dominica have entered into an internal agreement to allow third-country refugees to be sent to Dominica in cases where the United States cannot return these individuals to their country of birth or origin.”

He added, “In our discussions with the State Department, there has been careful deliberation to ensure that Dominica does not receive violent individuals or persons who could compromise national security.”

According to Skerrit, this concern has been acknowledged and well received by the U.S. Department of State.

Highlighting the importance of bilateral relations, Skerrit stressed: “As Prime Minister and head of government, I believe it is essential to find points of agreement and compromise between our countries.”

He explained that the engagement is rooted in his government’s responsibility to safeguard the well-being of Dominican citizens, particularly their access to lawful travel, education, employment, and family connections, while also strengthening cooperation between the two governments.

“I believe this will further deepen our longstanding relationship and clearly signal that Dominica remains a willing and reliable partner of the United States,” Skerrit stated.

Now, as we see with the European countries. Are these men going to come here and impose their culture on us? Be upset when they see women dressing how they want with their head uncovered?

Are these men going to come here and think women are their property? As we often see in those middle eastcountries? Just go to YouTube and see how they just randomly attack women. Women already under attack right now, and now we getting a population that has no respect for women, like at all.
If that’s the case, i’ll have to join Melissa Snipers wi. Enemy of My Enemy.

Another point, the PM basically said all this was a misunderstanding with the white house etc. But if it was a misunderstanding, Why we have to do the same thing Antigua did. Was it a misunderstanding with Antigua as well? Why they didnt say “oh our bad we reversing that”, why we still being “punished” and forced to take these people? Why isnt, st lucia and st kitts announcing that they have to accept them as well?

There is a saying – Money Makes the Devil Dance. This is what is going on. Why would the US send you honest, productive, and healthy refugess when it has all of the infrastructure and financial resources to accomodate these individuals and exploit their talents?
Instead they are sending them to a country that has limited to no infrastructure, poor health care system, limited financial resources, very small population (which really means the culture of the people are at risk), over 13% unemployment rate, and the list can go on and our PM wants to give this a good spin. Man this is a terrible deal and the MOU should be made public. Our neighbors in the region should watch this closely as people who show up in Dominica tend to leave DA after a few weeks when the reality hits them. We saw this movie already when a significant number of Haitians left DA for the other islands. We have lost our way when it comes to leadership

Wow so it is officially confirmed that our PM has bent the knee to emperor Trump lmao. No wonder there was no strong condemnation of the capture of Maduro. Now the question is where will these “refugees” be coming from? The same type of countries that we were giving passports to?

How ridiculous? Individuals who will not be received by their birth countries for what ever reason will be shipped to Dominica with its enormous challenges! The USA a first world country with better checks and balances and a better security system is allowed to off load these individuals on our unsuspecting country.

What is in it for us?
The USA continues its aggression against small dependant countries with leaders of questionable intelligence genuflecting in the process!!! Sad! Sad! the people must rise up to make their feelings known. It should be clear that we will not accept these individuals. We can hardly feed 60,000 persons. What will happen when we increase our population without any means of improving our living standards, are we blind? are our leaders committing us to long-term poverty?

This US administration is really treating us in these Islands like dogs and fools. Just to be able to APPLY for a visa with no guarantee of approval, we are been forced to accept refugees that the US are unable to return to the land of their birth. This is BLACKMAIL. Even with this agreement the visa restrictions still remain in place. We still continue to call the US a friend, with friends like these no enemies are needed. We await further instructions from trump so that the fools can go on another useless journey.

First, stop using the word refugees to describe deportees. These people are being deported from US soil and that’s the irrefutable truth.

Our rulers in these small islands are all mythomaniacs. They made this deal to take deportees many months ago unknown to us who have to live everyday with the consequences.

What I have come to realise is that our heads of
government are like dry leaves on a tree in a strong breeze. They fall to the ground of these bullies from militarily strong countries and genuflect. They are men of straw with no spine.

They only have courage and strength for their local opportunities parties. But they cannot stand up to world leaders. They melt like ice cream in hot weather.

I am totally against Dominica accepting deportees/refugees from the US. America has already selected the best and they are dumping the rest. Let us be honest this is not a request from the Americans it is an order disobey at your peril. We talk of sovereignty while incidents of the past weekend are fresh in our minds. Diplomacy has been replaced with might violence and piracy.
Dominica can never regain normal visa status with the US until they break ties with China and Cuba.
This has nothing to do with CBI as the program poses no threat to the US. It is all about power and control by an out of control US government.
Now that Dominica and Antigua have agreed to accept refugees/deportees from the US the US has now added another restriction, a $15000 USD visa bond…..just drip drip drip.
I know it will be hard for many but it is high time that negotiations with America on this issue be brought to a halt immediately. Let us stop embarrassing ourselves.
