Dominica Athletics Association to host 2026 National Junior Championship in Grand Bay

The Dominica Athletics Association Inc. has announced that the National Junior Championship will take place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Geneva Playing Field in Grand Bay. The event will bring together junior track and field athletes representing clubs from across Dominica, said a press release from the organization.

It asserts that consistent support, along with a clear and structured development pathway, plays an important role in helping both athletes and clubs improve performance, build confidence, and strengthen community spirit.

The championship will feature a range of events across multiple age categories. These will include track and field competitions such as the 100m and 200m sprints, as well as mixed relay events, including the 4x100m and 4x400m.

The Dominica Athletics Association Inc. is encouraging families, supporters, and the wider public to attend and cheer on the athletes as they represent their clubs and communities. The group says that the event also provides an opportunity to further develop the sport in Dominica while supporting the growth of the next generation of national talent.

I believe the powers that be in the development of sports in Dominica, should introduce baseball in Dominica. Baseball is family to cricket. Latin American countries benefit significantly from playing baseball. It can start at the school level, then into the different district in Dominica. A baseball player in the United States makes millions. Our cricket and football fields can accommodate baseball. Dominicans living in the United States know the sport.
The sport will unable Dominican students to get in top colleges in the United states. With the emergence of the new international airport, we have to bring in new things to encourage people to travel and even make Dominica a place to live in. Baseball will be good for Dominica.
