Dominica business community reminded of Business Continuity Planning as effective way of preparing for Tropical Storm Tammy

As Tropical Storm Tammy approaches and the global economic landscape continues to present challenges, the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) is urging the Dominican business community to prioritize resilience and sustainability. The DAIC is reminding businesses of a climate resilience initiative that emphasizes robust Business Continuity Planning (BCP).

“In light of recent global events, the importance of comprehensive BCP has become increasingly evident. Disasters, both natural and man-made, can occur unexpectedly, making preparedness not just a proactive measure but a strategic necessity,” a DAIC release states.

The climate resilience initiative aims to achieve three key objectives:

  1. Awareness: Raise awareness among businesses of all sizes about the importance of BCP.
  2. Education: Provide resources and information on best practices and guidelines for creating a resilient BCP.
  3. Support: Assist businesses in developing and implementing tailored BCPs to ensure they are well-prepared for any disruption.

The DAIC says it is collaborating with other Caribbean chambers of commerce and a team of experts in BCP, risk management, and disaster recovery to guide and support the business community throughout this process. The commitment extends to assisting businesses of all sizes and sectors in the Caribbean.
