Dominica Business Forum hosts lunch with Thea Lafond-Gadson; funds to go to youth in sports

On Monday, November 4, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, the Dominica Business Forum Inc. will organize a luncheon to honor  Thea Lafond-Gadson for her remarkable achievement in international sports. She made history by becoming Dominica’s first Gold Medalist at the 2024 Olympic Games held in Paris, France, and is the only Dominican medallist in the 128-year history of the Olympic Games since their inception in 1896.

The DBF Inc. views this event as a significant recognition of  Lafond-Gadson’s accomplishments, supported by the private sector, civil society organizations, and individual citizens who believe in the importance of acknowledging the contributions of outstanding Dominicans. The luncheon will take place at the Jungle Bay Resort, known for its luxurious and eco-friendly environment.

According to a statement by DBF, the success of  Lafond-Gadson offers a chance for businesses of all sizes in the Commonwealth of Dominica to come together for a shared purpose, reducing the typical dependence on public sector initiatives. This initiative aims to invigorate the private sector by fostering dialogue around nation-building and recognizing the achievements of citizens, starting with Mrs. Lafond-Gadson.

“The DBF Inc. hereby thanks to Team Thea, the Dominica Olympic Committee, ComeSeeTv and the Jungle Bay Resort for their support in this effort and appeals to the private sector and the rest of the population to pledge their support for a class event in honor of Her Excellency’s achievement in a manner that will maintain the sustainability of Dominica’s appreciation as the nation celebrates its 46th anniversary of independence,” read the statement.

Proceeds from the luncheon will support Mrs. Lafond-Gadson’s efforts to create an environment in Dominica that encourages youth participation in sports, a topic she will elaborate on during her speech at the event.

Tickets are currently available from members of the DBF Inc. Interested individuals and entities may call 767-235-7800 or 767-448-1941 to purchase or place their orders. Contributors from overseas are invited to participate by way of purchasing tickets online through an online portal provided by the ComeSeeTv platform.
