
The Dominica Business Forum, Inc. will hold an open forum to explore the intricacies of trade and entrepreneurship in Dominica. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, taking place in the Alwin Bulli Auditorium at the University of the West Indies Global Campus.
The discussion will feature speakers from various organizations, including the Dominica Business Forum, Inc., the Dominica Manufacturers Association, the Dominica Employers Federation, Josephine Gabriel and Company Ltd., as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Attendees will have the opportunity to examine the challenges faced by the manufacturing industry and the influence of international tariffs on economies like Dominica that are particularly vulnerable. The event kicks off at 6:30 PM, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the UWI Global Campus.
It is all good to have such Forum in such times, but after the forum is over, are their concrete plans to improve and sustain the economic model and structure we have in Dominica. There must be introspection, looking within, before we look outward, speaking of intricacies of trade and entrepreneurship in Dominica. Trade is increasingly becoming complex, which presents significant challenges to business, we do not have that much leverage. Entrepreneurship, yes, it is where individuals within the Country has the power to change our economic landscape. Entrepreneurship should be taught in our schools at an early age, economic self-reliance. As I said, I hope this Forum is not just another Forum, it should be continuous follow-up of evaluation.
