Dominica observes Cancer Awareness Month every October, with several communities coming together for this period dedicated to promoting support, awareness, and hope for those affected by cancer. This year, the Dominica Cancer Society spearheaded various initiatives, with Fine Foods Inc. participating through its brand, Soft Weave, by introducing the “Friends in the Fight” campaign. This campaign aimed to raise awareness and contribute to the Society’s efforts in empowering, educating, and assisting individuals and families impacted by cancer.

As part of the campaign, a portion of the proceeds from every purchase of Soft Weave products, which include tissue paper, napkins, and paper towels, was allocated to the Dominica Cancer Society. This non-profit organization is committed to providing vital resources and support to those facing cancer challenges. Fine Foods Inc. expressed its pride in collaborating with the Society to further its mission.

In addition to the fundraising efforts, a Cancer Awareness Series was launched on social media, featuring educational and uplifting videos that included interviews with medical professionals and cancer survivors. The donation from Fine Foods Inc. was presented to Mrs. Yvonne Alexander, the President of the Dominica Cancer Society, who conveyed her heartfelt appreciation for the support.

Josie Polydore, the Brand Coordinator for Soft Weave, shared her personal connection to the cause.

“Supporting meaningful causes has always been a priority for Fine Foods Inc., and as someone whose mother bravely fought cancer, I am honored to contribute through Soft Weave to a mission so close to my heart,” she stated.

Furthermore, the Fine Foods team participated in the Society’s annual Cancer Walk, a significant community event aimed at raising awareness and demonstrating solidarity with cancer survivors and fighters. Polydore remarked on the emotional impact of the event, noting, “The walk was a deeply moving experience,”

The Fine Foods Inc. team expressed hopes that its contributions will positively impact those in need and looks forward to ongoing collaboration with the Dominica Cancer Society in the future.

“Seeing the community come together for such an important cause inspires us to continue supporting the Society in every way we can,” said Polydore.
