The Men’s Senior National Football Team experienced a heartbreaking setback in their opening match of the Concacaf Series, falling to St. Martin at the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association’s Technical Center on Wednesday. The encounter took place in St Kitts and marked a disappointing start for Dominica’s squad, according to a Dominica Football Association press release.
Initially, Dominica showed promising signs, controlling much of the play early on. However, they struggled to convert their scoring opportunities. Notably, striker Troy Jules had a penalty attempt saved, and the team missed several other chances in the first half. Throughout this period, Dominican goalkeeper Jerome Burkard delivered an exceptional performance, making multiple crucial saves to keep St. Martin from taking the lead. The first half concluded with both teams level at 0-0, said the DFA.

The Association also reported that in the second half, Dominica came out with renewed vigor. Troy Jules capitalized on a loose ball shortly after the restart, giving Dominica a 1-0 advantage. Despite their offensive effort, the team failed to secure the victory by sealing the game. St. Martin’s persistence paid off in the closing moments, as they scored two late goals in the final 10 minutes to overturn the deficit and secure a 2-1 victory.
Looking ahead, Dominica is scheduled to face Sint Maarten in their next fixture on Saturday, November 15. The match is set to kick off at 4 PM.
