The Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) does not recognize the 2019 general elections results as being legitimate.
The DFP has issued a statement on the elections signed by the party’s leader, Kent Vital, in which says that the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) may have “captured” 18 out of 21 seats, but did not lawfully “win” many of them.
It stated that the will of the people who reside in Dominica has been negated during the December 6th 2019 general elections by the effort of the “Skerrit-led political gang” at stealing the elections.
“The Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) congratulates the majority of the Dominicans who reside in Dominica for rejecting Roosevelt Skerrit – who has headed an evil, vicious, vile and repugnant political gang that has been presiding over our country which they are plunging into a state of lawlessness, despair and poverty, ” the DFP said in its statement.
DFP goes on to say that there was virulent election fraud which included significant instances of improper and illegal registration of voters, and on elections day, significant instances of impersonation and double voting.
Other irregularities, the party notes, involved voter impersonation, where persons were given the names of other people (who are either deceased or whom the Labour Party planners knew were not available to vote in person), underage voting and voting by persons who were overseas prior to election day.
The DFP says it also received information that suggested there were polling stations that were not generally known to the public or to some elements of the public and also heard of an instance where one such polling station was dedicated to overseas-based voters.
The release added that much of this fraud could not have been observed by the elections observers but expects the observers in their final report, to discuss the weakness of the current legal framework that needs to be addressed to contribute to making election free and fair in light of the complaints they heard from the people of Dominica.
The DFP says it is calling on the international community to “encourage and even demand” a full investigation into the legitimacy of the December 6th general elections in Dominica and asked the OAS, the Commonwealth Secretarial and CARICOM to support that call and to be willing to participate in such an investigation.

Election is over. Have they not learned that animosity and constant opposition isn’t productive or even a valid political strategy? Focus on your constituents and what you stand for and start delivering on your own promises, that way you have something to talk about next election campaign besides empty criticisms and backward thinking of working against each other; which is a waste of time, energy and benefits no one but those who want to keep Dominica from progressing forward.
From the outside looking in, I would simply say that Dominuca is moving back toward bondage and further away from freedom and rather rapidly. My advice would be to check your “news” to be sure that it’s not fake propaganda, and never give up your freedom of speech.
It’s good to hear from on this matter. Even a blind person would notice the irregularities. Some genuine and honest laborites, Dominicans first, were surprised at the results some of them had already resigned themselved to losing or at best forming a slim majority government but 18 seats was a shocker for even them. So my advise is to get the facts get them straight , with all the evidence possible and start the court process . Freedom should do that either jointly with the UWP or other interested parties or if not do it individually and within the time frame allowed. We have witnessed I like Pontus pilate the observers washing their hands after their own reports highlighted some of the serious irregularities and inconsistencies you speak too. We as a people cannot allow our governance and democratic structure and systems to be circumvented like that without some form of legal intervention and challenge. Go for it guys!
It is this Freedom Party who have created a 2 Party state of division. They are a disgrace to politics and democracy. They should shut up and hide like they have been for the longest while. This statement by this formidable decent, highly professional Political Freedom Party is so real that I read it twice. Anyone who refutes this are in denial and supports this on going corruption and deceitfulness of this failed immature, Skerrits` highly, Corrupt Labour Government. We just do not recognise nor condone thievery in pubic matters pertaining to the state of Dominica.

Workers and Freedom, have no fear, you all are stalwarts, but the deception and thievery will be stained on Skerrit and Labour Party for years.
The just contested election should be null and void. There was too much fraud. A bad election is no election. Skerrit will do anything to escape prison. Some day in the not too distant future, he will have to face his demons. There will be no where to hide. No pay increase for public servants for now, only rumours around until the next election cycle. What excruciating suffering! The poor can take no more. Dominica will remain least developed, have the lowest standard of living and the majority of the citizens live by beggary for the foreseeable future. Pain and darkness has descended on Dominica and has taken up permanent residence.

Eugenia Charles killed the Freedom Party…I wonder what is Kent Vital doing to it now. He has certainly failed to resurrect it so he needs to give up the leadership. They could not find not one candidate to run this election and there is Vital giving all sorts of stupid reasons why this was not possible, what a shame.
The party has failed to stand up on its own and show that it is an independent party with a voice of its own; they keep following UWP in all the nonsense. It’s like monkey see, monkey do. Freedom appears to be just another arm of the UWP, with Vital being the vice-president. The other arms of UWP: Public Service Union – Letang is vice-president, Concerned Citizen Movement – Durand is vice-president, Grace Fellowship Church – Randy Rodney is vice-president, the construction group – Tony LeBlanc is vice-president. UWP have so many subdivisions and advisers, and they still could not “out-strategize” the DLP. Just too many cooks in that kitchen.

The election was legal under our laws therefore UWP & DFP can state the obvious that the election was stolen. Unless something can be challenged from before the elections were held there is nothing that can be done. Find another path, give a deadline for electoral reform then take action. The DFP, DLP and UWP supporters know what happened.

The stealing of election has been a feature of the Skerrit led DLP..It all started after this famous/infamous e-mail from Anthony Astaphan, addressed to Roosevelt Skerrit, telling him if reform is given to the Dominican public, it will undermine his re-election legacy..This was in 2008..
Subsequently the 2009 election was stolen, the 2014 election was stolen, beand the biggest outcry was undoubtedly be 2019 where 8000 or 10000, or 12000 people were flown into Dominica, to steal yet again another election..
People we must take to the streets to protest this thievery.., and press for full reform, to include campaign finance reform and use of the media among others.
