Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association wraps 55th meeting; new Board introduced

The Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association (DHTA) successfully conducted its 55th Annual General Meeting on January 10, 2025, at Villa Copthall. A Discover Dominica Authority press release indicated that the event gathered pivotal figures and stakeholders from the tourism industry to explore the future of tourism in Dominica.

Held under the theme “Reimagining Tourism: A New Era for Dominica’s Tourism,” the AGM served as an essential forum for discussing advancements in the tourism sector and exploring innovative strategies for development. Among the highlights of the meeting was an address from tourism minister, Denise Charles-Pemberton, who provided insightful updates regarding the current state of the industry as well as future initiatives aimed at enhancing tourism in the region. Keynote speaker Ms. Dahlia Guard, CEO of the St. Lucia Community Tourism Agency, also contributed valuable perspectives, emphasizing the importance of community-focused tourism in fostering sustainable growth for destinations.

In addition to the discussions and presentations, the AGM included the formal announcement of the DHTA’s new Board of Directors. The following individuals were elected to lead the association:

– President: Ms. Kitwani Ferreira
– Immediate Past President: Mrs. Avril Copiel
– First Vice President: Mr. Gregor Nassief
– Director of Accommodations: Mr. Herve Nizard
– Director of Finance and Fundraising: Mr. Sheldon Bruno
– Director of Membership: Ms. Marcy Gachette
– Director of Public Relations: Mrs. Samantha Doctrove-Letang
– Director of Tourism Services: Mr. Hubert Winston
– Director of Related Services: Ms. Nathalie Roland
– Discover Dominica Board Seat: Ms. Marva Williams

The DHTA affirmed its commitment to ensuring Dominica’s continued growth in the industry, stating, “The DHTA remains committed to fostering collaboration and innovation within the tourism sector, ensuring that Dominica continues to grow as a premier destination in the Caribbean.”

    Tourism is the driving force for Dominica and Caribbean Islands. The Dominica CBI program attracts investors towards Dominica real estate to invest in the tourism accommodation apartments and earn rental yeild and grow their capital assets.
