Attorney General Levi Peter has revealed that a draft Legal Profession Bill will be tabled before the House of Assembly by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
He made the announcement during the opening ceremony of the new law year held at the State House Conference Centre on Monday.
“A strong, efficient justice system cannot exist without the disciplined, ethical, and accountable legal profession,” he said. “Regrettably, instances of professional misconduct and in some cases outright dishonesty… continue to undermine public confidence and tarnish the reputation of this noble profession.”
According to Peter, for far too long, Dominica’s efforts to enact comprehensive legal professional legislation have been deferred, often overtaken by competing priorities and constrained resources.
“I can, however, confirm that a draft Dominica Legal Profession Bill is currently receiving focus and sustained attention, including careful consideration or substantive recommendations advanced by the Dominica Bar Association,” he noted.
Peter went on to add that it is anticipated that the Bill will be available to be tabled before the House of Assembly by the end of the first quarter of 2026, “with the objective of modernizing professional regulation, strengthening disciplinary mechanisms and aligning Dominica with regional best practice.”

Well yes , we do have an attorney’s General then . What happen he was in hibernation or in a dig sleep. So many legal issues are floating away in the public domain which the AG, has not only failed to comment on but has also failed to give direction and clarification on as a public servant attorney general . He seem to be complicit with all the legal wrongs going on in this country . The failure to advise on the non appointment of a leader of the opposition, the appointment of officers to constitutional office without due process etc etc . The failure in tabling of freedom of information bill . The so many complains of malfeasance in the public service and also the general public . This is the most docile and corrupt AG Dominica has ever had .

Not one attoeney in Dominica has been disbarred with all what is going in the country with attorneys engaging anybody can name some. Taking money from people and not offering the services there is a legal name for it. having knowledge of members engaging in unethical practices and illegal practices there is legal term for it. having knowledge of fraud and corruption among those in government yes there are members of the bar in government and knowledge of their dealings is out there there is a legal name for it. nothing and no investigation is be done or requested to discipline these people.
