The Dominica Olympic Committee (DOC) held a meeting on Monday, during which the new Executive, elected in July, was officially sworn in. President Billy Doctrove, now entering his third term, used the occasion to underscore the Committee’s core mission: serving the best interests of sport and athletes in Dominica.
Addressing the Executive during the oath-taking ceremony, Doctrove stressed the importance of selfless service.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate those persons who were elected to the Executive,” he said. “I would like to remind them, we are not here to serve ourselves, neither are we here to promote the association that some of us are members of, or to boost our own ego. If we have any of these intentions, the door is right there, you can take.”
He reiterated that the Committee’s work must be athlete-centered, adding, “Our affiliates demand nothing less than total and selfless commitment.”
The full executive for the 2025–2029 term includes:
- Billy Doctrove – President
- Donnie Robinson – Vice President
- Dexter Deucray – Treasurer
- Korlita Hamilton – Assistant Secretary/Treasurer
- Fenella Wenham-Shepard – General Secretary
- Chester Letang, Peter Letang, and Job Joseph – Committee Members
- Brendan Williams – Athletes’ Representative
Looking ahead, Doctrove said that preparations are already underway for Dominica’s participation in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. He revealed that six athletes have been awarded Olympic scholarships to support their training and development.
“Preparing for an Olympic Games is not an easy venture, neither is it a cheap venture,” Doctrove noted. “So we are happy that we could have got the scholarships for the six athletes, and we have had intensive discussions with them. They know our expectations of them, but we know that they will be in a better place, in particular financially, to ensure that they can improve and increase their preparation for L.A. 28.”
In addition to the Olympic scholarships, swimmer Jasmine Schofield has secured a full swimming scholarship. Doctrove extended gratitude to the Dominica Amateur Swimming Association for its role in facilitating the opportunity.
“I want to thank the Dominica Amateur Swimming Association for the role that they played in obtaining this scholarship for Jasmine,” he said.

We’ve all heard him, I guess we must be low in knowledgeable and/or sophisticated individuals.
Replace ‘brand Dance yes f facilities’ with ‘ obtains’
Garson if the authorities use to read your foolish and idiotic comments Dominica would not even have a Domino team,much more for three West Indies cricket players.All Dominica would have is a bunch of negative JACKS.
@a CLOWN
But you have shamelessly been DNO’S CLOWN for an extended period of time. You are buffoonic, dunce ,semi-illiterate, shameless and stupid.
Why are you ashamed of attending night school?
@ Clown
Of all people you are the one calling another foolish?
Maybe you dont know how dam stupid you are. For your notice, you can barely read and write.
If DNO had to cover garbage, people would hardly see your idiotic comments.
Maybe that is why you are called CLOWN.
@Lin Clown
Nonsense coming from an idiot.
Well for your information, what Dominica needs most for the young people are facilities. You must be a real fool to believe otherwise. And based upon the idiocy that you write, you are a FOOL.
Mr. Doctrove, what about agitating for modern athletics facilities? To gain a competitive edge, it is imperative that the facilities and coaching be greatly improved. Trying to produce many top class Olympians wth what presently brand Dance yes f facilities is like trying to give CPR to a dead horse.
