Dominica opts out of voting in UN’s ‘New York Declaration’ for two-state solution in Gaza

Dominica chose not to participate in voting on the “New York Declaration,” which expressed support for a Palestinian state alongside Israel. This declaration, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, September 12, aims to outline concrete steps toward a two-state solution amidst ongoing conflicts.

News outlet Reuters wrote that the resolution was put forward following an international conference held at the UN in July, hosted by Saudi Arabia and France, to address the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian dispute. Notably, both the United States and Israel abstained from attending the July conference.

Today, the General Assembly overwhelmingly approved the declaration, with 142 countries voting in favor, 10 against, and 12 abstentions. The resolution received backing from all Gulf Arab nations but was opposed by Israel, the United States, and several other countries such as Argentina, Hungary, and Palau.

The document reportedly emphasizes the importance of immediate, irreversible, and measurable actions to advance peace efforts between Israel and the Palestinians. This vote precedes a gathering of world leaders scheduled for September 22 during the high-level UN General Assembly meeting, where several nations, including Britain, are expected to recognize a Palestinian state formally, said Reuters.

The seven-page declaration condemns recent violence, including the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel, which ignited the ongoing conflict in Gaza. It also criticizes Israel’s military responses in Gaza, citing damage to civilian infrastructure, sieges, and starvation as contributing to a severe humanitarian crisis.

The document calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza and supports the deployment of an international stabilization force under the authority of the UN Security Council.

Not surprised at all, since scare crow, want the Palestinians to move to Dominica. It would be contradictory to vote for a Palestinian state. 😀

I would be comfortable with Dominica supporting this declaration. However Dominica did not contribute in anyway to the statelessness of the Palestinian people nor the violence that is now engulfing the region, this was all done by the Americans and the British with their European alies. So don’t include Dominica or Skeritt in your criminal nonsense. What about the neighbors of the Palestinians like Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE? These are super rich countries with GDP in the trillions of dollars, they are the world’s financial powerhouse yet they rather gift 400 million dollar jet to the president of the US and support meaningless resolutions at the UN instead of using their vast wealth to get a resolution to this problem.

Anyone who refuses to vote for an amicable solution between the Palestinians and the genocidal Zionist state is inhuman. Roosevelt and his wife are ungodly, unconscionable serpents.

Going to the Vatican and having an audience with the pope is all a show. This reprobate and his wife have long lost their humanity. Evildoers! The incarnation of Satan.

Why this decision to abstain Dominica? The government of Dominica now has an obligation to explain clearly to the citizens of this country why it choose this vote. the explanation has to be clear and transparent.
