Caribbean nations are closely monitoring developments following the recent leak of a U.S. government draft list outlining countries that could face broad travel restrictions, as a continuation of previous immigration tightening measures under the Trump administration.

A recent Reuters article revealed that this list has prompted regional leaders to seek clarification amid concerns about potential impacts on their nations.

It further states that spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, Tammy Bruce, distanced herself from the leaked document on Monday, emphasizing that “there is a review through the president’s executive order for us to look at the nature of what’s going on to keep America safer and dealing with the issue of visas and who’s allowed into the country.”

According to Reuters, Bruce clarified that the review does not necessarily equate to an immediate ban, but rather a process to evaluate the current policies and procedures.

The draft list, which has not been officially confirmed, includes a mix of African nations and Caribbean states. As reported in a DNO article on Sunday, June 15, notably, Dominica is on the list, as well as Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Saint Lucia. These nations are reportedly flagged for potential partial travel suspensions if their governments fail to address unspecified “deficiencies” within a 60-day timeframe.

In response, leaders from these Caribbean countries have expressed concern over the lack of formal communication from the United States regarding the draft or the specific issues involved, said the article.

Dominica’s Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, is reported as stating that government is actively seeking more information, emphasizing that they are making the necessary inquiries.

Meanwhile, Antigua and Barbuda’s embassy in Washington conveyed its “deep concern” in a Saturday letter obtained by Reuters, urging the U.S. to clarify the potential travel bans and specify the “details of any ‘deficiencies’ perceived by U.S. agencies,” so they can be addressed promptly.

Antigua and Barbuda’s ambassador to the U.S., Ronald Sanders, stressed that “a review is not a ban,” adding, “A review can lead to satisfaction as much as anything else.”

Similarly, Saint Kitts and Nevis has reported maintaining “consistent and open dialogue” with U.S. authorities and has pledged to provide updates if any official communication is received.

Skerrit sells passports to Syrians and Iranians, then enriches himself from the program. With the idiot Trump in the White House, it’s the perfect storm of greed and xenophobia that anyone with a couple of brain cells could see coming.

The countries on the proposed ‘visa ban list’ are in a serious spot of bother. No matter how expertly well they will try to spin this as long as the corrupt CBI scheme remains intact, the ban is inevitable.

The repercussions and ramifications are going to be economically disastrous for the inhabitants. Diversify the economies so we don’t have to rely so exclusively on this mono-economy of passports selling.

Although Donald Trump is a double headed duplicitous snake, who will be negotiating with you, and at the same time planning to kill you, the question remains what has made St Vincent so different from the other OECS countries? Those thives posing as leaders, need to learn from him, (Ralph). You know what? It seem to be very easy to steal monies from passport sales, because the CBI programme was NEVER intended to be the main economic driver in those countries. It shows how visionless those leaders are. Trump will do as he says. If he can ignite war betwee Iran and Israel, preventing people from certain countries entering the USA is not an impossibility.
Again those lazies need to talk to big belly Ralph.

@ Meme, always putting other countries ahead of Dominica. People like you and Big belly Ralph, when the US and EU say jump you all only ask how high massa. The US has its EB- 5 program and many European countries have golden Visa programs which attract billions in foreign investments, these programs are not corruption free yet I hear no complaints from you and big belly Ralph.

You buffoon. Only now you know that those small economies are struggling? Well at the bottom of the struggling list is Dominica.
But the Caribbean’s LAZIEST Prime minister, Skerrit, has told you that Dominica is the most prosperous country in the world, and you were clapping like a nincompoop. Why can’t he accept all Dominican deportees?
Brainless clowns. You are a bag of confusion.

Bullying by America!! The way out is for these islands to accept poor illegal immigrants from America that according to America is a strain on the US economy, so what will these immigrants do to the economies of these struggling small island states, I guess it is all about American interest and to hell with everyone else. America basically wants to have the right to decide what type of people can reside in their country while dictating to others who they must accept. This should not be a matter of negotiations, it is time for the middle…

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 9 Thumb down 6

They also want to destroy the regional use of the same trade they all partake “golden Visas”. This will ensure the small island economies will always remain begging states dependent on their charity. Remember after Hurricane Maria, Dtrump threw paper towels at Puerto Ricans. Imagine the desperation Dominica would have been in had not the CBI been in place giving Dominica a toe (not even a leg) up. American and the EU are constantly shifting the gold post re CBI. The same program they themselves gladly pursue. They want to be the judge, jury and executioners. Africa is rising, see Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali and Niger. They getting scared.
