Dominica police officers complete advanced drill and ceremonial training in Barbados

Sergeant Sherwin Mitchel and Acting Corporal Tyron Sandy of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) have successfully completed a seven-week All Arms Advanced Drill and Ceremonial Drill Instructors Course in Barbados.

According to the CDPF, the training programme included 43 participants from military, police, and uniformed services organizations across the Caribbean. Participating agencies included the Barbados Defence Force Regiment and Coast Guard, Barbados Police Service, Barbados Fire Service, Barbados Prison Service, Barbados Youth Advance Corps, the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force, Royal Antigua and Barbuda Police Force, St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force and Police Force, Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, St. Vincent Police Force, and the Royal Grenada Police Force.

Upon completion of the course, Sgt. Sherwin Mitchel and Ag. Cpl. Tyron Sandy received the Distinguished Drill Instructors Medal, an award associated with drill instructors trained under the British Drill System.

In addition, Sergeant Mitchel was recommended to return to Barbados to serve as a Senior Drill Instructor for future All Arms Advanced and Ceremonial Drill Courses. In that role, he would work toward qualifying for the Senior Drill Instructors Medal and the White Cap Band.

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force congratulated the officers and stated that their participation and achievements reflect ongoing efforts toward professional development and training within the organization.

Garson u too old school bro.

Modern policing requires and blend of the old and new where necessary. People like the legendary Alpee and Butcher are classic examples of how when incorporated, these principles can be effectively incorporated. The old “Drill Sargent” slave driver mentality is now relegated to the by-gone era.

Go to the Lab later after your meds have settled and take a still spice on my behalf. Tell them Hon. Bwa sent you, not Poopoo-you or Ahhass-Kannie the vote buyers

My not so swift cousin asked me if oil was discovered in Dominica. I told him not to my knowledge. He then asked me why they sent the police to Barbados to learn to drill on taxpayer money???

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 5 Thumb down 5
