Less than 36 hours after the shooting death of Ron Garth Jolly, a Fond Cole man has suffered a similar fate in the community of Yampiece.
The police have confirmed to Dominica News Online (DNO) that just before 10:00 p.m on Friday 13, 2022, 38-year-old Lester Charles was gunned down in front of his home in Yampiece.
Just three months before, on February 26, Charles sustained a gunshot wound to his head in Yampiece which left him nursing injuries for some time at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH).
The police stated after the attack that they were in search of the unknown shooter who fled the scene shortly after the crime.
While an official statement from the police has not been released, a police source who spoke to DNO, said the public’s assistance is needed in solving the homicide of Charles as his attacker’s identity was unknown at the time.
A similar appeal was also issued by Sergeant Fixton Henderson of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as it relates to the drive-by shooting death of Jolly which occurred on Thursday May 12, 2022.
The Louisville man who was a local artist known in the entertainment industry as Burn Brain Jolly, was in the community of Bath Estate with a group of friends when a vehicle approached them and an occupant opened fire.
According to Henderson, Jolly received multiple gunshot wounds to his back, left arm, chest and head. The victim was rushed to the Dominica China Friend Hospital (DCFH) where he was examined and officially pronounced dead by a medical doctor at 9:54 p.m. on Thursday.
“Anyone having any information regarding that fatal shooting incident at Bath Estate is urged to call the Criminal Investigation Department at 2665164, 2665165 or 2665119, 2665117,” the Police Sergeant encouraged.

A man was shot by a drive-by gunman, execution style and in less than 36 hours another suffered the same fate?! The maths is simple. The police just have to try to find the numbers to solve the equation.
What evidence do you have to jump to that specific conclusion? That’s just wild speculation without a thread of evidence.
Antigua & Barbuda with a population of approximately 100 000 thousand has three (3) murders for the current year. Dominica (60 thousand people -out migration responsible) – eight murders.

I anticipated increase in crime.in Dominica back some years I saw the same phenomenon when it was building up in Jamaica in the 80’s and Dr Severin, UWI referred to that on Q95 several times . He was much criticized by certain political forces in Dominica So here we are. .Corruption and criminal activity usually has a trickle down effect especially when persons in high places including law enforcement and the judiciary are involved in misconduct. When the top is rotten it trickles down levels of the society in social disorder…Is there increase in prostitution also women selling themselves to higher ups??
I often repeat your reason for the rapid surge in criminal activities in Dominica. Corruption at the top in government permeates the whole of society. This is squarely the case in Dominica. This is squarely what is occurring in Dominica.

The police no longer serve and protect the ppeople. They perform for an audience of one. The crime situation is going to escalate as no meaningful, strategic changes are being put in place to mollify the raging wrath of the young people.
Awful that man, what a tragic loss of life again. The year not even five months old and we having eight killings already. I not feeling safe again for true.
At the same time we have Discover Dominica promoting air B+B on the island. Are they for real. The place expensive and awkward to get to in the first place and then you have terrible things like deadly shootings happening here. Get the place safe and working properly first and don’t ask who is to blame, just get it fixed before all those who can will leave the country.
My hope is that these relatively frequent shootings would subside and never become the norm to add to the already daily hardships and misery of life in Dominica.
The police always implore the public to assist them to solve murders. For the good of all, the public should not hesitate to lend their support. But, here’s the problem. How can the police reasonably expect citizens to oblige when they brutalise, falsely arrest, and even murder these same civilians. There is no TRUST between the police and the public.
In fact, there is an adversarial relationship between the two factions. It is like us-against-them interaction, initiated by police who work at the behest of a hard-boiled tyrant in the OPM.
Young men at the prime of their lives are becoming an endangered species in Dominica.
