Dominica to host five young women vying for Miss OECS title this week

The stage is set for the much-anticipated 2026 Miss OECS Pageant scheduled to take place this Friday.

Five contestants will compete for the prestigious title at the Windsor Park Sporks Stadium from 8:00 PM.

They are: Tanisha Balson representing Dominica, Kia Kirwan of Antigua & Barbuda, Ariel Bushay of Anguilla, Donyelle Hodge of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and Dahvana Providence of St Vincent & the Grenadines.

“Preparations are advancing with great momentum and reflect this year’s theme: Crowning Radiance, Embracing Unity,” Chairperson of the Miss OECS Queen Show Organizing Committee Ramoulda Hyacinth said. “Delegates across the OECS are being carefully groomed through cultural showcases, rehearsals and mentorship sessions, ensuring that they shine with individuality, while embodying the collective harmony of the region.”

She said that with five outstanding young ladies representing the OECS, anticipation is high.

Hyacinth asserted that the organizing committee is confident that the pageant will be more than a competition, it will be a vibrant celebration of beauty, culture, and a unifying bond, “that connects our islands.”

Meanwhile, Dominica’s Ambassador to the OECS and CARICOM, Dr. Gerald Jean-Jacques said during a statement that the OECS Queen Pageant was never just a competition, but a powerful regional institution that brings together people from our member states

“Young women, patrons, artists, and in doing so it reflects the values of OECS integration, commonality, fraternity and solidarity,” he said. “Through this pageant we see our region, not as isolated islands but as a connected community bound by common history, shared challenges and collective aspirations.”

Dr. Jean Jacques continued, “The OECS Queen Pageant embodies these principles in a unique and visible way as contestants socialize, train and grow together, learning not only about themselves, but about the cultures, the traditions and perspectives of the sister territories.”

According to him, these interactions build lasting relationships and a deep appreciation, “for what unites us while celebrating the diversity that enriches our region.”

Furthermore, Dr. Jean-Jacques noted that the pageant also serves as a platform for leadership, development, and regional advocacy.

“Our contestants are ambassadors, young women who are engaged with issues such as education, climate resilience, cultural preservation, entrepreneurship, and social development,” he emphasized.

Tickets for the show are available at Bullseye Pharmacy and Pay.shopdm.store/miss-oecs-pageant. VIP tickets cost $120, seating $80, and standing $50.

The Reigning Miss OECS is Dominica’s Kyanna Dyer.
