The Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT) is set to host its awards ceremony today to recognize and honour outstanding contributors to youth entrepreneurship in Dominica.

The ceremony is expected to take place at the State House Conference Centre, beginning at 6:00 PM and will highlight the significant impact the DYBT has had on fostering innovation, business development and economic empowerment over the last two decades.

According to Coordinator of the DYBT, Phillip Rolle the ceremony will feature  31 awardees including persistent entrepreneurs, loyal facilitators, dedicated trustees and special awardees who have played a vital role in supporting the growth of young entrepreneurs in Dominica.

“The event will also acknowledge the contributions of DYBT donors and strategic partners whose financial and technical support has been crucial to many of DYBT’s successful initiatives,” he said.

He continued, “This milestone celebration will not only recognize past achievements but also reinforce the vision for the future, empowering more young Dominicans to create and sustain [thriving] businesses contributing to national development.”

The DYBT is an initiative of the Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP) and the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, with support from the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).

This Project focuses on a model by which young people are provided with the wherewithal to establish sustainable businesses. It combines attributes of several past initiatives and involves inputs from various institutions and donors into a coordinated project that delivers an efficient package of services to young entrepreneurs.

The first consultation with stakeholders of the project was held in August 2003. The Trust was officially launched in May 2004.
