Dominican cricketer, Alick Athanaze, has been selected to play on the West Indies team as they take on South Africa in an upcoming T20 International (T20I) Series.
It begins on Thursday, May 23 at the Sabina Park in Jamaica.
This will be Athanaze’s T20 debut for the Windies.
The team will be captained by Brandon King with Roston Chase serving as vice captain.
According to Cricket West Indies, the squad has been gearing up for this series with a training camp held at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
Lead Selector, Desmond Haynes, spoke about the opportunities the series will give for members of the squad.
“These are among the last competitive T20 International matches before the start of the World Cup,” he said. “Players have the opportunity to fine-tune their skills and ensure they are as prepared as they can be for the World Cup, whether they are in the final squad or reserve pool.”
White Ball Head Coach Daren Sammy spoke of his objectives for the series.
“We have not played together as a team since the Australia series, but we just completed a very high-intensity training camp in Antigua,” he remarked. “Now we have the chance to integrate some of our players returning from the IPL and build some momentum as a group going into the World Cup.”

A very weak team which will most likely lose to South Africa…but it’s understandable, since many players are still non available.
Sammy is a let down singing for his supper. Here are the batting averages of some of those guys picked for the world cup.
Chase 15.86
