The Dominica Hospitals Authority is set to organize events in recognition of World Diabetes Day on Thursday, November 14, 2024, following the theme: “Breaking Barriers, Bridging Gaps.” The scheduled activities will feature blood sugar screenings for both staff and the general public, taking place in the foyer of the Dominica China Friendship Hospital, commencing at 8:30 a.m. In addition, educational sessions and counseling will be offered.
Members of the public are invited to take part in the blood sugar testing and are advised to arrive at the testing location at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital while fasting (no food consumption after midnight).
Furthermore, participants are encouraged to don baby blue attire to promote awareness of diabetes and its impact on the community.
The hospital is one of the most important institution in any country. Therefore, every effort should be made to get it to the highest standard. The citizenry should have the greatest confidence in their main health facility from its record.
We cannot say this of the present state of service offered by the main hospital. In fact, there is a mathematically certainty that when a number of infirm people are admitted to the hospital some would not return to their loved ones.
Diabetes and all the other NCDs are so rampant in Dominica it’s scary.
