Dominica-born, US-based surgeon, Dr Dale Dangleben, has been named the Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious Thieme’s Surgery Journal.
On his official Facebook page he said was excited by the new position.
“I am excited to announce that I have been named Editor-in-Chief of Thieme’s Surgery Journal,” he wrote. “Thieme is one of the leading medical and science publishers from Germany that provides information and services to improve healthcare and health. I am looking forward to working with my team as we renew the editorial board.”
In a message to Dominica News Online, Dr Dangleben said he is responsible for putting together a new editorial board for the journal and it is going to be global.
“I am responsible for putting the new editorial board together and I have specifically made it global – inviting at least one physician from the Caribbean and Africa to be in the board,” he said. “The board will truly be global.”
In his first editorial for the journal, he described himself as “an author and editor who is deeply committed to medical education and health care advocacy from a global perspective.”
“In the ever-evolving landscape of health care, the need for unity, inclusivity, and a global perspective in the field of surgery has never been more pressing,” he wrote. “As we inaugurate this new chapter for our esteemed journal, I am both honored and excited to share our renewed vision and commitment to fostering a comprehensive, inclusive, and
collaborative platform that brings together all members of the surgical community from across the globe.”
Dr Dangleben stated that the journal’s new focus “is rooted in the belief that surgery is a universal language, transcending borders and cultures.”
“With this global outlook, we aim to provide a platform that not only highlights the latest advancements in surgical specialties from around the world but also facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experiences across diverse health-care systems. By embracing a global perspective, we can learn from each other, adopt best practices, and innovate collectively to improve surgical outcomes for patients everywhere,” he wrote.
Dr. Dangleben was born and raised in the village of Pointe Michel.
He attended the St Mary’s Academy (SMA) and then Sixth Form College. After a few years as a high school teacher at SMA, he migrated to the US where he attended Hunter College in New York City. There, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
Subsequently, he went on to medical school at Penn State University College of Medicine. He did his surgery residency and trauma fellowship at Lehigh Valley Health Network. Currently, Dr Dangleben is double-boarded in General and Trauma Surgery and is a Chief of Surgery and Trauma Medical Director.
He has a deep passion for writing and has authored several books. Click on the link below to read the full editorial of Dr Dangleben
So why doesn’t he open a private hospital in Dominica. In the USA most hospitals are privately owned.Dangleben may be a name in Dominica not in the USA.How many Dominican lives has he saved, how many surgeries has he perform on Dominicans? The answer is none.So that bull crap about congratulation,Dominicans does not benefit or profit.Lets see him in the London journal of medicine or the American journal of medicine, where he live and work. The real Putin is right,if you Dangleben is so concerned about the health of your people, with all your accolades and expertise open a private hospital, help your people.Hypocrite.With all your accolades and expertise,Dominicans have no profit, not even his blue friends.Political gimmick.Everybody know where Dangleben stand on the DCFH.
are you willing to pay his salary. care for his family. Dominica pays their doctors next to minimum wage. would you pay for his student loans he has acquired. medical school is very costly. Are you willing to buy the hospital so he can operate. Talk is cheap. if you were in his shoes you would do the same. let the man live a good life with his family.
In the top 2024 doctors list in the USA,of which thousands of doctors are listed Dale Dangleben name is not there.Mr is the only Dominican doctor in the USA that is always writing and boasting about himself.Looking for noticing.
@Lin Clown
He can put several sentences together, but you can’t put one. He is a brilliant scholar, you are a shameless moron.
@Lin Clown (Labour Pride)
You are typically the kind that the Dominica Labour Party attracts – unalphabetical, unthinking, uncouth, unstable.
A little unsolicited advice, when you write make it make sense.
Congratulations in order my beloved brother! Who Jah bless no man, zarman or dictator can curse or vilify. Another one of our Smartest Men Alive (SMA) is again making this beloved land proud. The land of Mamo, Bala, Congoree, Unisef and others have been blessed to have you as her son.
Stay strong bro, keep on moving and remain humble as you have always been.
An accolade for which he owes much gratitude to the Commonwealth of Dominica for all the years of free public education that he received, including at the then 6th Form College, a.k.a Sifocol.
I hope he never forgets this debt. I hope he shows gratitude!
Zhalouzee c’est met sorseeyea! Thats a very REAL doctor for your information. Not the fake, greedy, manipulative, compulsive liar, clueless, arrogant, shameless Dr. Dr. Dr. that have we the people in such a mess. Matter of fact, I have personally renamed the fake Dr. Dr. Dr. Lie-onel (pronounced Lionel) because of his love for lieing.
“Zhalouzee” of being an editor? Lol! Ah yes, the koonoomoonism has reached the deep recesses of your brain.
You do know how one becomes an editor, right? Ask Tim Durand, Carlyle, and Mr. James (Sun newspaper) and they will tell you: “Pipe down, youngster. Calm yourself. Doh get carried away!”
He tries to show gratitude to the highest degree when he offers his expertise time and time again and it gets rejected; basically telling him his gratitude is not needed. So what more do you want???
Maybe his expression of gratitude is too often laced with cyanide. Maybe?
All of you Diasporans who love to throw stones at Dominica and who have allowed yourself to be led astray by dimwits from the UWPwee, ALL of you, owe your today, to the taxpayers of Dominica who have paid for your foundation. And this is the “truth to power” that must forever gnaw at your conscience the next time you speak ill of Dominica or seek to stop its progress. It is the unadulterated reality that torments many of you!
People of your ilk who support Roosevelt who is the I car nation of Satan, are the most unpatriotic citizens of Dominica.
How can one be a patriot when he supports the wanton destruction of every aspect of life and governance in his country perpetrated by one avaricious, sinful, criminally minded atheist (Roosevelt)?
Putin, that’s the problem I have no hate in my heart for you but that statement is such an arrogant thing to say based on a dumb, oppressive cultural ideology steeped in even worse partisan political dogma.
The number of grateful, unbelievably charitable Dominicans who have (particularly brilliant and successful ones) been turned away by their people and government over the years. If anything it us who have been ungrateful and unappreciative of them and not the other way around.
If you have a heart it would make you weep internally and if you don’t and just full of yourself then you might actually secretly see it as a victory, less competition and opposition for your delusional boastful narrative.
Arrogance, you say? The arrogance begins with too many of you who have fled Dominica, get a piece of paper from a university, maybe practised an accent, and suddenly believe that you are endowed with a superior intellect and expertise on matters pertaining to Dominica and others in Dominica must just bow and say: “Welcome home prodigal son/daughter. We have been waiting for you to rescue us.” This is the arrogance we see in too many of you, including Dale. This is where the arrogance lies. Fortunately, we know how to deal with arrogant Diasporans.
Yes, arrogance, like the arrogance you continue to display by making ASSumptions about me that I fled this country.
You’re not interested in facts or challenging your assumptions or you would seek the truth. You just want to be seen to be right and superior and discredit those that challenge your fragile narrative. But the problem with fragile things is that a stiff breeze can blow them over…like your intellect, which is not grounded in valid ideas so any scrutiny will see it crumble to any solid critical thinking from even a 4 year old, therefore your intellectual positions will always be weaker. You have to make these aspersions about others to make yourself feel better to give yourself a chance to SEEM right, deep down you know you on shaky ground.
Its easier to attack me, or Dangleben or insert here convenient target that is not part of your own “tribe”.
I could continue but I’ll stop for now, but the “arrogance” you see is the projection of your own arrogance on others…
Russia if you are listening, tell Vladimir to take back this son of Putin posing as a Dominican who appears to be exercising his English by spewing nonsense.
On a more serious note, readers should be informed that Vladimir has shared a gross mischaracterization of Dr. Dangleben who has been an unceasing and upstanding “unofficial” ambassador for Dominica for decades.
Before Vladimir flaps his lips, he should do his research or ask those who call the doctor friend, relative or colleague.
Why such silly sarcasm, lol. When say quote, readers should be informed that Vladimir “has shared a gross characterization of Dr. Dangleben” I wonder if you really think of your before you make such statements, aren’t you making a gross characterization of the person you call Vladimir son, lol. When Dr. Dangleben uses Social media with his postings about Dominica are these postings not a
gross characterization about Dominica.
I will tell you this, I wish Dr. Dangleben well on his new appointment due to his specialized Knowledge, an Editor-in-Chief carries great responsibility and I hope that Dr. Dangleben be objective in his new endeavour and not be reckless as his social Media postings about Dominica.
Congratulations to you Dr. Dangleben. Can keep a GOOD MAN DOWN Jean Dominique .
Professionals like you needed to fix, repair and have a good medical service in the COMMONWEATH.. BLESSINGS Dr.
