
The Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) responded to a report regarding the suspected importation of Cannabis at the Deep-Water Port at Bird Rock, St. Kitts, on August 25, 2025. According to a press release from St Kitts & Nevis law enforcement, the vessel involved had originated from Dominica.
It was further reported that during a search of the vessel, officers discovered a quantity of packaged plant material believed to be Cannabis. A crew member from Dominica, identified as Eli M. Burton, was detained by police along with the suspected contraband, which was later confirmed to be Cannabis.
The following day, August 26, 2025, Mr. Burton was formally charged by the RSCNPF with Importation of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply, indicated the statement. Additional charges were filed against him on August 27, 2025, by the St. Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department.
These included Importing Goods, specifically Cannabis packaged in a manner designed to deceive customs officials, and Attempting to Fraudulently Evade Customs concerning the importation of restricted goods, namely Cannabis.
