St. Kitts and Nevis police say they have launched an active investigation following the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old student in the College Housing area late Saturday night, September 13. While the individual has not yet been officially identified, sources indicate the deceased was a national of Dominica.
According to a statement issued early Sunday morning by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the victim was a student of Washington Archibald High School.
The incident occurred in the College Housing district, a residential area near the campus of Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College. Police have confirmed that the shooting took place during the late-night hours and that the investigation remains ongoing. No suspects have been publicly named, and the motive behind the attack is still unclear.
This latest shooting comes amid heightened concerns over gun violence in the Federation. Just days earlier, law enforcement officials reported the discovery of a cache of illegal firearms and ammunition in Saddlers, underscoring the growing unease surrounding the proliferation of weapons in the region.
In Antigua, in St. Kitts, in Guadeloupe, in Martinique, all over the Caribbean, Dominicans are meeting their demise literally and figuratively. They are jumping out the proverbial drug pan straight into the lie of fire.
There is an exodus of Dominicans leaving the country for greener meadows. Unfortunately, many of the few it doesn’t work out. We can stay at home and make things better. Where tee is a will there’s a way.
Firstly, we have to politically exterminate Rosevelt, his semi illiterate wife, and his foot soldiers from ever holding power again. Install a government of integrity and ingenuity. We have enough honest, intelligent and unselfish men and women in Dominica and the diaspora to form a solid Government of National Unity.
