Dominican Tricia Jno Baptiste recently earned her Master’s Degree in Finance from Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, and according to her, the academic milestone was just a fraction of what she gained in the process. Graduating on October 28, 2025, a media statement shared that the accomplishment was made possible through the Ireland Fellows Programme, which is managed locally by the Irish Council for International Students (ICOS).
As she reflected on her experience, Miss Jno Baptiste shared that her initial motivation was to obtain an academic credential, but her journey in Ireland offered her far more. She said that she gained a robust professional network, immersed herself in Irish culture, and developed new insights into global finance and international affairs.
“The MSc in Finance, delivered by leading academics and industry practitioners, provided a strong foundation for my future career,” she noted. “The programme encouraged collaboration and exposed me to classmates from diverse backgrounds, creating a dynamic and enriching learning environment.”
According to the release, throughout her fellowship year, she participated in certified training sessions focused on leadership, conflict resolution, and time management. Additionally, she attended a ten-week Irish language course, which deepened her appreciation of Irish heritage. As part of the IFP Volunteering Programme, Miss Jno Baptiste also contributed her time to Vision Ireland, a charity dedicated to assisting people with visual impairments.
She described her study experience in Ireland as transformative and urged other individuals from Small Island Developing States to pursue similar opportunities.
“Beyond academic development, the programme offers valuable experiences that inspire growth, innovation, and the ability to make meaningful contributions upon returning home,” Jno Baptiste remarked.
ICOS is a non-profit organization committed to promoting excellence in the recruitment, access, and support of international students in Ireland’s education system.
The Ireland Fellows Programme aims to provide fully funded postgraduate educational opportunities in Ireland for professionals from Small Island Developing States and other qualifying nations. Designed to cultivate future leaders, enhance local capacities, and the goal is to promote strong ties between Ireland and participating countries, as outlined in the media release.
