The Dominica Water and Sewerage Company Limited (DOWASCO) has made significant progress on all four project sites under the Water Sector Strategic Development Project (WSSDP) meant to improve the water infrastructure in Grand Fond/Morne Jaune, Calibishie, Castle Bruce, and Coulibistrie/Morne Rachette/Salisbury.
According to a statement via the company’s Facebook page, various challenges have affected the progress of works to date, including weather-related incidents, terrain, equipment, and administrative delays.
“While the project was expected to be completed at the end of March, a new completion date of September 30, 2026, has been requested, and approval is expected to be granted by the CDB shortly,” the statement said.
All pipes have been laid in Grand Fond.

Furthermore, the statement noted that the installation of the cross-country supply pipeline from Grand Fond to Morne Jaune is more than 60% complete.
“New 115,000- and 70,000-gallon storage tanks have been installed in Grand Fond and Morne Jaune, respectively,” the statement revealed. “Also ongoing in that area is the replacement of parts of the distribution network. “
The statement concluded, “Pipeline to undertake this project have been stored in various sections within the communities to facilitate these works.”
