ST LUCIA: Drug bust results in four Port Authority employee arrests

Four employees of the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) were arrested following an alleged drug bust which took place at the Castries Port.

This was according to information from The St Lucia Times.

The article said further that the arrests stemmed from an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) on Saturday, October 18.

The St Lucia Times reported that during the operation, a motor vehicle driven by a SLASPA employee was intercepted. A barrel, “that had not yet been clad for customs inspection” was also discovered.

“A subsequent search of the container reportedly uncovered quantities of controlled drugs, including cannabis and MDMA, commonly referred to as ecstasy. The driver of that vehicle was then arrested and brought in by police,” The St Lucia Times noted.

After the discovery police arrested three additional persons who they suspect are connected to the incident. Police continue to investigate the incident.

The individuals are expected to be charged this week.
