During Cyber Security Awareness Month, Digicel Business and Symptai offer free dark web scan for businesses

The Caribbean region has reportedly often become a target of the increasing threat of cybercrime due to a lack of local cybersecurity expertise. To combat this, in celebration of Cyber Security Awareness Month, a release from Digicel Business announced that it has partnered with Symptai to provide Caribbean enterprises with a free dark web scan.

As the area swiftly advances in digital adoption—ranging from online banking and government services to remote working and e-learning—both significant opportunities and risks emerge, outlined the organization.

According to Digicel, the campaign poses an essential question: “What if your organization’s data is already on the dark web—how would you know?” Citing recent statistics, Digicel shared that breaches now average a cost of US$4.88 million, commonly involving customer information and mistakes such as phishing attacks or credential misuse.

The company reported that early detection of such exposures enables companies to take preemptive measures to protect customer trust, secure vital systems, and mitigate cyber threats before they escalate into major incidents.

Marlon Cooper, CEO of Symptai, emphasizes the importance of cybersecurity: “No organization can compete or achieve sustained growth if it cannot protect its data. Cybersecurity is now inseparable from business strategy. When executives put security at the core of their plans, they’re safeguarding trust, strengthening competitiveness, and securing the region’s long-term economic future.”

Liam Donnelly, Chief Business Officer at Digicel, highlights the company’s commitment: “At Digicel Business, we are committed to empowering organizations to stay resilient, protect their data, while continuing to operate safely. With our larger team of experts, supported by local knowledge and global partners, we bring world-class cybersecurity and data protection services to the region.”

“Digicel Business and Symptai helps businesses across the region to strengthen their cyber defense”, said the release. “In recognition of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, businesses can also claim a complimentary dark web scan, available until November 21, 2025, to uncover any data that may already be at risk.”
