Dominica now has a new acting Chief Cultural Officer.
Earlson Matthew replaces Raymond Lawrence who has worked in that division for over 30 years.
Matthew, who spoke to the media during an interview this week, said he is “truly excited” about his new position as Acting Chief Cultural Officer.
“I believe that I have a lot to offer and I have also learnt a lot from the people I have worked with in the past, people like Raymond Lawrence, Jacinta David, Gregory Rabess, Ras Mo [Moses],” he said.
According to Matthew, the vision doesn’t really change.
“The goal is still to preserve, promote and develop culture,” he stated. “We might have different methods of doing that; it’s a different staff, a different generation.”
He continued, “There is always room for improvement, so what we plan to do is make the events a little more appealing to the younger generation and to everybody…”
Matthew stated that culture is not for the cultural division; it’s not for the senior generation only, “it’s for everybody.”
Congratulations!
These are big shoes to fill, but I believe you are up to the task.
Good job bro. Nice to see one of my classmates doing positive
Congrats Earlson… all the best!!!!
Congratulations Sir. At least the general public could be informed of his academic credentials wi!!! In this day and age!!! In 2021 people need to know how qualified these big wigs are or are not!!!
Congratulations! Earlson Matthew! Well deserved young man. New horizons! New ideas but put God first and think hard before you implement new ideas. Always check the pros and cons.
Some years ago we gave a piano to the cultural division and put up the wall fans in the meeting room
How many really know what these hands gesture mean? Some kinda “Brotherhood” something? Hmmm
Thats a grown man not realizing that he has a public-facing role and that he needs to clean up his act. He not on the block !
Embrace the future but don’t neglect he past. Congratulations and good luck.
Congratulations, great to see someone like you in that position.
DNO can you furnish us with his qualification and experiences please and thanks.
1000 congratulations to you sir. Would love to hear more of your plans to get the youths involved in the culture
Congrats! And I do hope you follow the examples you got. Do not let Politics spoil this Cultural Division. Culture is the whole of Dominica and many many persons you have to deal with treat all equally.
I want to say Hats off to Mr. Lawrence. He has done a tremendous job. God bless him
