Eastern Caribbean Central Bank aims for refinement of digital EC currency with public input

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) has commenced planning for a commercial deployment of DCash 2.0, its digital version of the Eastern Caribbean currency. According to a letter to stakeholders, building on the lessons learnt from the DCash pilot which ended in January 2024, DCash 2.0 aims to deliver a more secure, resilient, and user-friendly platform.

It also stated that the ECCB is committed to engaging with all stakeholders across the ECCU to ensure DCash 2.0 meets the needs of all users.

The ECCB invites stakeholders to participate in the DCash 2.0 Public Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DCASH2

Our survey runs for the month of December 2024. This survey seeks to gather useful insights from the general public, including DCash pilot participants. We want to hear from you!” The letter said. “We would like to understand your experiences with digital payments including your experience with DCash during its pilot stage, and your expectations for the future of digital finance in the region.”

The letter delineated further that by participating in this survey, stakeholders will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the Central Bank Digital Currency in the ECCU and their feedback will guide the development of DCash 2.0, ensuring it is tailored to meet the diverse needs of users across the region.

As an added bonus, survey respondees may choose to enter the ECCB cash prize draws for a chance to win $500 at the end of the month submitted and a grand prize draw in January 2025 for $2500 (terms and conditions apply).
